I just posted a trade proposal in the main trade forum and was wondering if you guys would be as interested as me in st. louis? and If so what do you think it would take to get him here. Hed be a great addition to the first line, and is speedy for the forecheck. he has stated publicly that he may want to leave so id imagine his value has dropped significantly due to that.
My only problem is St. Louis is aging, and I think in the last year of his deal? I suppose it wouldn't be that bad of a proposal, but I'm not sure why St. Louis would want to come here and I think he has a NTC?

He's expressed that he wants out of Tampa Bay so he can win the cup again. Which means he probably isn't coming our way based on that premise alone. Personally, any first round pick is out of the question unless we know we're in a position like Vancouver where we'll be able to compete at a high level consistently. The prospect pool needs a little filtering at this point and we'll see what we can do with the draft this year with the amount of picks that we have. I still think Fletcher is going to do something with the 2nd round picks, maybe move up into late 1st round with someone to pick up another player??
If the Wild are going to give up assets like a 1st, Schultz & Harding I'd prefer they get younger. Isn't he like 35? He's still very productive, but not really what the Wild are looking for long term, IMO.

He'll be 35 in June so either way St. Louis' next contract will be interesting given it will be enforced by the 35+ rule.
our defense is quite a bit more porous than it has been in a long time (if ever) and you want us to get rid of one of only two defensemen that can play defense? The upgrade in offense isn't enough to offset the downgrade in defense + the deficit we need to recover from last year's performance.
Sorry Shleeban, short term this might look good, but long term not so good. I could see it if it were Schultz or Harding, but not both PLUS a first that would leave the Wild without a 1st or 2nd next season.

This is dead on. Be realistic - this team is not going to be a cup contenter for at least two more years (probably 3 years away). If we were closer, he could help get us over the top, but we still have too many holes to fill to be dealing for 35 year olds.
