Just wondering if there is any updates on Spacek and when is he coming back?

Andrei Markov update (May 4th 2010): Torn ACL - done for season (http://habsinsideout.com/main/34134)

On twitter it said that Spacek was skating "looking healthy"

Edit:
The Spacek news is from James Mirtle

and according to RDS, Markov out for indeterminate amount of time, going through tests

Spacek is day to day with a light case of Vertigo or a bad case of the flu, Markov flew back after thew game on Friday night and was on crutches at the arena in Pittsburgh and Marc-Andre Bergeron should be playing tomorrow night.

Of course he'll play, he's taken over 5000 hits like that in his career

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I heard Bob Cole say during the broadcast yesterday that Markov is gone for the year

But it's Bob Cole, so take it with a grain of salt

Cole probably thought that the Pens would take out the Habs in 2 games.

That was never actually confirmed by the team. Apparently the Habs PR person responded to that with "that's news to me"

Even though Cole may have been speculating, probably pretty close to the truth. I don't expect to see Markov again with the way he left the ice.

I suspect he has a MCL/ACL tear...and I bet he's done for the playoffs, baring any miracles.

Markov is gone for this year. It's too bad because we only have one more year of Markov left. Hope, they sign him to an extension. MAB will play because, even though it was a dirty hit, MAB seemed ok. I hope Spacek does not play yet because the team does not win often when he is on the lineup. Hoping Subban can pick up the slack in Markov's absence.

Seriously though nice strategy by the Pens, let's hit their best players and take them out. Markov, MAB!!! Watch out Cammalleri.

You do realize that Spacek was a beast in the Washington series before he fell ill right? Have you been watching the playoffs? We've reached the second round and we're facing Pittsburgh, series is tied 1-1.

There is actually no confirmation on Markov. If it is a partial tear he can play with a brace.

Spacek was great in game 1, the rest of the series not so much. He didn't go down by the way, he has somekind of flu. So, thanks for your comments.

I don't think he will play. He went off with crutches on Friday, says a lot.

A) he was great in both games 1 and 2
B) he didnt play the rest of the series
C) i wrote that he fell ill, which means he got sick

...if your gonna post ****, please get your facts straight.

He was a beast in game 1 and shut down Ovie completely, started getting sick by game two and was out after that. So what part of the rest of the series was he no good in.

Really now he may be bad defensively but tell me one player on the Habs that can score from the point on the PP??? Markov?? maybe. Spacek, hmm where is that great shot every one talked about???

The strategy of the Pens is to hit the Habs players because they are small and fast skaters. The more they hit the better. Get it. It doesn't matter if they are clean or dirty hits. When someone hits, injuries are bound to happen.

Subban's already a far, far better player than MAB both 5-on-5 and on the PK. His shot isn't quite as good as MAB's, but he brings more to the PP too. Frankly, with Markov and Spacek out MAB's not that useful because there's no one on the left side with the mobility and/or passing ability to set him up regularly. Putting Spacek in the lineup and using him on the left side of the first PP unit actually makes MAB more useful to the team, IMO. Otherwise get Subban out there, with MAB or not he's only guy who can really quarterback it left. MAB can't.

regardless if you hate on him or not this team needs MAB to play if Markov is done.
on the PP at the very least

Well obviously. We're missing 2 of our top 3 d-men. But nobody in their right mind would include MAB amongst the Habs "best players". I can think of 10 players off the top of my head, easily, that are more important to the Habs winning games than he is.
