Hitchcock is Pat Quinn Version USA

Can someone please get this smug whiny creep off TV after the playoff games...... he whines after a win more than any other coach I've ever seen. People get on Pat Quinn (and rightfully so) but at least Quinn whines when his team loses.... Hitchcock probably woke up today and complained to his wife about it being Tuesday

anyways at least tell us what it is that is bothering you so much dumbass.... what did the giant screen show that caused fans and players to be incited into violence Hitchcock?

What subliminal message was flashed across a scoreboard that convinced you to tap Brashear and send him over the boards after the refs had already escorted him to the players bench 10 seconds earlier? Please someone enlighten us.

Is there somewhere online to see his post-game press conferences? I'm...let's just say...intrigued by some of his comments and would love to see him actually saying some of this stuff in the flesh.

I'm sure it's online somewhere but we in Canada are blessed to see the coaches news conferences after every game ... usually I don't watch much of them and to be honest I only caught a clip of Hitchcock's and had no unearthly idea what he was rambling on about but it just strikes me oddd when his team wins....... he finds something to complain (or as he eloquently puts it.. be disappointed in) about

This is what Hitch has always done. Call it motivation, call it head games, call it perception manipulation it seems to work for him and lets his players play loose. For all the expectations on the Flyers since the start of the season, they are playing amazingly loose and some of that has to be attirbuted to Hitch.

Instead of talking about what he said after the game, try discucussing what he did Before and During the game, because he coached circles around Tortorella last night.

Anything that makes the loss go down easier for you.

The whole point of putting Brash on the ICE is to show the refs who is the coach of the Flyers. The refs do not have a right to tell someone who isn't serving a penalty or misconduct if he can be on the ice or not.

High stick, the point is that in a blowout like last night, you don't show that clip over and over again. It makes a tense situation all the more volatile. Then stupid things happen that didn't need to happen at all if someone in the TB organization chose not to make a bad situation worse.

As far as Hitch goes, that's what he does. His main intention when he says stuff in the media is to get people motivated, riled or just to make them laugh. He obviously does a good job if you are so up in arms about him.

Fred Shero was before my day but he is the best coach I have seen for the Flyers ever.

I prefer Hitchcock over Quinn... The Flyers taking out the Leafs in the last round might sealed the deal for me.. I'm not saying Quinn got outcoached by a long shot.. but still.. my feeling on Quinn is that when there's a loss he doesn't put the blame on the right things.. for instance I remember one night in the Ottawa series the leafs got a ton of deserved penalties, and intead of blaming that on the one player who got 6PIM (I forget who it was) he blamed the refs..

whatever makes the loss go down easier on me?????????? I'm a Habs fan

I just don't like this guy

I am sure the screen in Philly shows stuff over and over too.. it seems like a pretty stupid thing to be complaining about.

As for Brashear.... he was put on the ice to show the refs who the coach was? Well Sutter got 2 games for showing the refs who the coach was this season... maybe Ken should get a holiday as well.. would that be worth it to show the refs that?

I am on vacation right now, but I usually get to see the full post game on Comcast Sports net which usually has Hitchcock's comments. I've seen Hitch talk to the media dozens of times after both a win and a loss though. Usually he is right on the money. He isnt afraid to call a spade a spade (though he is very politic and cautious criticizing the referees), say that his team played lousy when they won, or say that he was happy with the way they played in a loss. His comments are actually insightful, big change from the usual post game where the coach will come out and say things like "We need to put the puck in the net".

The playoffs are a different matter though. Last year I was a bit embarrassed by his comments during the Ottawa series, when he claimed he had five guys on IR due to high sticks. During the post season he is much more inclined to blame the referees (such as his criticism of some of the goalie interferrence calls being made), and play head games with the players on both teams. Wouldnt surprise me if he did whine a bit. Can anyone post a link to what he said?

No doubt they do it everywhere. I don't understand a coach griping after a win, and about something so stupid. I find it pretty funny.

I had seen some video interviews with the coach on one of the Philly paper sites, pre-series, but I thought maybe someone knew where you could see this stuff online somewhere. Having been entertained for years by Tortorella's post-games, I love watching this stuff.

Hitch is the only one talking about the replay, no one else from the team is saying anything. No offense, but usually Quinn whines and the players follow suit.

Hitchcock and Quinn are similar since Hitchcock learned a lot from Quinn. Both do complain and whine but that is just part of their game. Both are good coaches with a lot of history and are also friends too.

I think he was pissed that it caused some stuff to be said by the fans to the bench, whatever that was.

How does blaming every loss on the refs motivate his players?

How does *****ing about a screen after a win motivate players?

There is no difference between Quinn and Hitchcock IMO except Hitch gets better results from his whining.

It doesn't. He has a legit gripe when Tampa fans are throwing things into the Flyer bench. Their team is losing big and the guys working the arenavision are just making it worse.

He just wishes some people would just use their common sense sometimes, that's all.

He wasn't complaining about the game, or the players or the refs.
It was a personal complaint about the conduct of the arena.
They are completely differnt. Should he have done it? Probably not

You know in a different light hitch could have been complaining that there was no canadian anthem to boo ... becasue the conduct of the fans while juvenille.or delinquint does not have the a huge bearing on the game's outcome.
Hitchcock is not the only compainer inthe nhl he just happens to be very sublime about his intentions with it....

How so, explain their simalarities...

Every coach whines at one point or another.

Quinn and Hitch are both great coaches, but they are VERY DIFFERENT.

You really think he whined to motivate his players after a 6-2 hammering?
