IHL Dayton Gems "Major Announcement"?

Unable to sleep tonight, I decided to peruse the Gems' site only to find a blog entry about a "Major Announcement" which was to be made at a press conference yesterday.

...except that there's no mention of what the announcement was. I couldn't find anything searching Yahoo, either. Any ideas? I had hoped to get to a Gems game this season but didn't make it. Hopefully they're not shutting it down after one season or anything.

The Gems will be back for next season! I hope that the league lasts the year. Flint is dropping out, leaving six teams.

Correction. Muskegon is confirmed as dropping out (being replaced by a USHL juniors team), which took the league down to six.

Flint is not CONFIRMED as dropping out -- the NAHL has announced a team in the arena in which the Generals play(ed) for next season, but the IHL is swearing up one side and down the other that they intend to also ice an IHL team in the same arena for next season.

Rumors include the Generals' IHL franchise being moved to St. Charles, Missouri... who the heck knows what's actually going to happen. It's the yearly "are we going to be able to cobble a league together" scramble. Le plus ce change...

As noted on other threads, Dayton will merge with three other IHL clubs into the CHL... Should be a very interesting year for the Dayton Gems...
