Interesting stats on penalties

http://www.ontheforecheck.com/2010/5...ive-nhl-awards

Someone posted this on the main boards.

Ryan Smith led the league in hooking minors with 9 in 67 games and Wayne Simmonds was second in the league in slashing minors with 10.

I also thought it be fun to point out to anyone who may still have an interest in acquiring Scott Hartnell from Philly, that although he doesn't lead any of the categories he's 2nd in roughing with 20, 2nd in crosschecking with 6, and 2nd in goalie interference with 5.

Smyth's penalties scare me. He's definately lost a step. Simmonds and Hartnell's penalties don't bother me in the least bit.

Eh whatever Hartnell was great tonigt and is still good. The hooking calls are a wee scary though.

And on a related note I wonder what the too many men on the ice penalties per game ratio is in the regular season compared to playoffs. Now that would be interesting.

When I saw this thread, this is what I thought I would see.

I don't think any Kings fans are surprised by the news. Simmonds loves to chop down on players sticks, but he's still young.

Also, moving Smyth down to the second line with Stoll and Brown should help him. Another good reason to sign Kovalchuk.
