I'm not good with pairings but I feel like those are gonna be the guys.
The big problem I have with your lineup is that you have 5 RD and only one real LD.

Oh and seeing Green anywhere near team Canada makes me wanna puke

Weber - Keith
Myers - Doughty
Staal - Green

I think Staal will be a very strong candidate come the next olympics. He also has some good WJC experience winning the best defensemen award.

Here is the likely list of candidates, and from that you'll probably see one or two emerge before 2014.

Player List - Defenseman
1. Weber
2. Doughty
3. Keith
4. Seabrook
5. Bouwmeester
6. Myers
7. M. Staal
8. Mike Green
9. Boyle
10. Schenn
11. Robidas
12. Phaneuf
13. Hamhuis
14. Burns
15. Letang
16. Del Zotto

From that I would guess that its going to look something like

Keith-Weber
Doughty-Meyers
Bouwmeester-Boyle
Seabrook

Burns might make it if he can stay healthy and produce a little better

Believe me,he has the talent to do so

Whatever it is, I guarantee that we won't see more than 3 names of any person's lineup.

Sure spot :

Duncan Keith (30 years old) He has already been a 1st pair defenseman for Team Canada in 2010.
Brent Seabrook (29 years old) Experienced Olympics with Keith.
Drew Doughty (24 years old) He'll probably have won 3 Norris at that moment !
Tyler Myers (24 years old) Has shown amazing stuff during his rookie season

Will fight for a spot :

Zach Bogosian (23 years old) Strong slap shot with great size.
Luke Schenn (24 years old) Could be a great guy in short ended and plays a great physical game.
P.K. Subban (24 years old) Maybe second best skating ability among these guys behind Doughty. (maybe Keith)
Alex Pietrangelo (24 years old) Didn't see him play
Marc Staal (27 years old) Same kind of player as Seabrook and Schenn.
Cam Fowler (22 years old) Depending on how he develops.
Chris Pronger (39 years old) Do we still need him ?

Would you see any other contenders ?

What's sure is that with a defensive roster like that, you cannot be beaten. We also have to keep in mind that we'll have Crosby, Stamkos, Tavares, Getzlaf and others up front.
A bit off topic, but since you added 2 Americans in your list... it reminds me of how stacked Team USA's Defense will be in 2014...

Ryan Suter
Erik Johnson
Paul Martin
Jack Johnson
Zach Bogosian
Cam Fowler

Among others of course... but wow, we're getting pretty close to you guys on Defense... just looking at HF top 50, we have 3 defensemen prospects in the top 40.

Doughty will be the best defenseman on that team, book it.

I think Boyle will be the veteran presence. I personally think the Sharks will have a cup or two by then and that Boyle might be the captain after Blake leaves.

Funny ... I would have said the same thing about Slava Fetisov, Alexei Kasatonov, Valeri Vasiliev, Vasili Pervukhin and Zinetula Bilyaletdinov ...

The lineup you're rolling out really is no better than the Pronger / Doughty / Seabrook / Keith / Niedermayer / Boyle / other guy lineup Canada played in 2010, a team that was beaten soundly once and taken to overtime in the final.

Not sure what the point of this thread was, but nobody is unbeatable, especially four years before the tournament. Let's tap the brakes on this sort of talk.

I believe it could be better because the defensemen who were the best for Canada in this tournament will be hitting their prime and the guys that didn't play well will be too old to play.

Canada lost one close, meaningless game but was never soundly beaten in the tournament.

I agree with the pumping of the brakes though.. way too early to say anything other than we look good.

Anyone care to bring up the HF projections from 2006 on what the 2010 team would look like?

Guaranteed there would've been a lot of near-locks that ended up not making the team. Who'd have thunk in 2006 that J-Bo would've been left off the 2010 team and Keith would've made it?

Too much can change in 4 years. But it looks like we've got a damn good pool to choose from, anyway.

People need to be less sensitive on HFboards. Nobody is saying that they shoud just give Canada the gold, just pointing out the defensive corp will be great.

And I can't see Green making it. He's plainly shown that he's a no-show when the game is important. I'd put Subban over him, I'd also put about a dozen others aswell.

The Myers man (boy?) love on this board is disgusting. Hes a freaken rookie. Yes, he had a fantastic year. But hes far from a lock on Team Canada.

Anywho, if Phaneuf can regain his Norris nominee season form, he'll have a chance at it. Hes still young enough that its a very real possibility.

Theirs alos the distinct possibility that we're completely wrong, and someone will come out of left field and make the team

First off, I'ts man love. Since he's playing for Canada and we're men at 18.

I'm sure people said the same thing about Doughty in his rookie year.

There will be a defensemen from the 2010, 2011, or 2012 draft class that will earn a spot on the team imo.

Agreed. Although no one ever can tell how these kids will develop, based on how they are in the CHL and the style of game they play, I think Gormley (2010), Murphy (2011) and Murray (2012) all should adapt to the NHL quick enough that they will garner some attention.
