I'm sure the guys who lead the teams know better how to generate the maximum amount of revenue, don't you think? There have been short experiments before across Europe, for example Jokerit tried this before (going without the ads in jerseys), this experiment lasted only for a season, for a good reason I'm sure.

The ads have been there for ages, and people have become very used to them, actually alot of fans - such as myself - find the NHL games pretty dull visually, becose there are no ads.

Edit. Besides, most if not all the teams sell their jerseys both, with, and without the ads. If I was ever to buy a jersey it would definately be one WITH the ads.

The jerseys are ****ing sweet! Finally one without all the ugly ass ads. I'd definitely buy one but the prices will be skyhigh i'm afraid.

Actually, I would not trust the Finnish hockey executives to be very business savy. Take a look at Sweden, they're doing a lot better job with similar resources, i.e better arenas, bigger crowds, bigger incomes... and better-looking jerseys as well . To me, the ugly rags weared by Finnish clubs are just an expression of the amateurish way things are done there. I'm not against ads totally, but when you're having a hard time finding the club crest from the ads-jungle, you know there's too many.

This winter classic thing is actually a step forward, though. Interesting to see how it works out, and how it compares to other Winter Classics in Europe. The one in Gothenburg was really well done.

Yikes!, foreca 10 day forecast predicts temperature of -17 C for 5th of February.
i know it's almost a week away but still...

I wonder if i am able to sit there the whole time if it really gets that cold.

Just be happy that they are not forecasting rain with plus weather. Around -17 celsius just forces you to actually put on some warm clothes.

Well duh(!), wearing warm clothes makes you look like an ass. I don't want to look like a Jokerit fan...

Ouch, nice weather forecast.. It would be lame though if it was + weather and raining. Just got tickets btw, pumped! Originally I wouldn't have been able to go, but now things changed and I had to pay extra... oh well, should be worth it!

Here is charity auction for the game worn jerseys:

Edit. Link doesn't work, but just go to:

www.huuto.net , put "talviklassikko pelipaita" to the box and click "Hae"

Edit. And the weather prediction has changed quite a lot...now only around 0 to -1
