Was he fired ala Georges Laraque?

Can't blame the kid, he probably had mafia related duties.

He'll be dealt this summer, if any NHL GM is willing to take risk on an immature, unwilling and enigmatic player. I couldn't care less about the potential player he might becoime, I don't want spoiled divas in my team.

No point for him even do show up, obviously won't play so its better since the team doesn't need any more distractions.

I think Sergei has become too much of a distraction now for a player that obviously will never wear the Habs jersey again. He will not get fire a la Laraque to keep his value as much as possible.

Yea, he's done with this club, and it's probably the best thing for both parties.

I think what's not being given enough credit is how andrei hasn't been strayed by his own brother. Andrei seems to be always at practice and never has any off ice issues.

FriedmanHNIC Jacques Martin: "met w/Sergei Kostitsyn and told him to work out in the gym." That's really odd. Clearly not happy w/74.

Not weird. Sergei looks out of shape and has lost a step since his first stint in the NHL.

Martin is trying to show him that EVERYTHING counts if you want to have success in the NHL, from days in the gym to a little optional practice.

Those who say that Martin hates Sergei Kostitsyn are wrong. He's trying to help him in all ways.

100% Agree. Martin is trying to develop the kostitsyns into true pros and with that, the sky is the limit for them.

From many sources, JM asked him to go at the gym

Martin rather have Darche on the bench and play him for a whopping 0 second.
Why would Sergei practice when it's clear he won't play for the Habs anymore?..
Seems like the players don't even enjoy him around the team so really, why should he stick around.

As much as the stupidity of S.Kost is a factor, management poorly handled him.

Or he could show up at practice and work his a$$ off, but that would be too professional, right?

Martin probably wanted him away from the other players so he wouldn't cause a distraction. Worse time of the year to stand out like a sore thumb

It's too bad he's such a waste of talent. I hope it means a guy like Trotter or Desharnais might get a shot in his place.

First point, he's being paid to be there, he should be there.

Second point, looks like a trend with young guys in Mtl.

Yah, like that guy Higgins, who only got 100 times better after he got traded.

Not everything is black and white.
