Teammates: Richards Vs Lecavalier

Whats the best way to make sure team bias isn't a factor in these polls? Take out the teams.

Face-off #3 pits the Bolts' two high flying young franchise centers.

The files:

Brad Richards
Age: 24
Size: 6'-1", 198
04/03 Stats: 82 GP, 26 G, 53 A, 79 PTS, +14, 12 PIMs
Ice Time Regular Season: 20:25
Ice Time Playoffs: 22:44
Game: This young center has put up astronomical numbers at every stop on his way to becoming an NHL star, but it might not even have been until this season when his doubters were finally won over. A purely finese player but one who's intelligence and guile is beyond reproach. Tremendous playmaker with vision that is often a step ahead of everyone else, he's also a regular on Tampa's ultra dangerous shorthanded units. And how's this for a vote of confidence? Richards leads ALL, and yes that includes defensemen, Lightning players in ice time in the playoffs.

Vincent Lecavalier
Age: 24
Size: 6'-4", 205
04/03 Stats: 81 GP, 32 G, 34 A, 66 PTS, +23, 52 PIMs
Ice Time Regular Season: 18:03
Ice Time Playoffs: 19:02
Game: Ok, let's forget all this non-sense that was bandied about when Vinny hit the league. So he's not Michael Jordan on ice. What he is though, is a pure franchise center with all kinds of size and skill. Capable of dominating a game like few can (although he hasn't had to much this year), Lecavalier's never quite lived up to expectations and never quite shown enough consistancy, but at 24 and on a strong team, who's to say he doesn't have a Hart type season coming up soon? His +23 this season was...+23 better than his previous best.

PREVIOUS MATCHES
1. Stuart (65%) Vs Hannan (19%)
2. Liles (38%) Vs Vaananen (60%)

brad richards. has improved every year, with a career high of 26 goals and 79 pts this year. vinny has more potential, but i'd take richards' consistency.

Ummm Richards for consistency ,and for a season , but Lecavalier for a game ...Just like the Sakic , Forsberg argument ... Sakic for a season , Forsberg for a game .

I go with Richards. Richards has been doing everything asked of him since day one, has Lecavalier? Both have talent but it seems lately that if Vinny's dipsy-doo moves don't work, he'll give up on the play. Plus Ken Hitchcock has called Richards the best passer through traffic to come into the game in a long time. That's a big kudo coming from a coach that isn't your own and a good ability to have for a center.

I love Brad Richards. He is so under-rated on that Tampa Bay team. I'd take him over Vinny any day, however, both are great players in their own way.

For now I would take Richard but I think in the long run Vincent will be better off having. A lot more talent.

Lecavalier is the most skilled of the two, but I think that RIGHT NOW Richards is just better. He is very clutch and he is so intelligent with the puck. That guy is my favorite TB player by FAR.

If Lecavalier could play every game like those he played against Montreal, then he will be my obvious choice. The kid gotta work on his work ethic, and then he'll be an unstoppable force. He got all the skills in the world, but he needs some maturity.

If I were to choose one for my team, Richards easily. I think Lecavalier has more talent though.

I don't agree with this... He is underrated by fans but not by the team. He is the most used player on the team and he's not even a defenceman!

Brad Richards.

If he was a bit more physical he would be the complete package. Amazing vision, great shot, good skater, great in his own zone and can log tons of minutes.
