Rangers' Top 20 Prospects POLL (#9)

THIS POLL IS CLOSED. PLEASE GO TO THE #10 POLL.

Well, it's still an incredibly close race for the #8 spot, but more people have voted than have for any other poll and I don't think waiting will produce a clear winner, so I am going to declare Jarkko Immonen the victor in a squeaker.

Rangers' Prospect Ratings are ranked as follows:

1) Fedor Tjutin
2) Henrik Lundqvist
3) Josef Balej
4) Hugh Jessiman
5) Thomas Pock
6) Petr Prucha
7) Maxim Kondratiev
8) Jarkko Immonen

Who is the Rangers' #9 Prospect?

Some Notes:

*I took out Umberger and replaced him with Liffiton. People aren't voting for him because they don't consider him Rangers property and it's skewing the results. A mid-first round pick would normally rank in the top 8 of an org's prospect list, but R.J. hasn't even contended for a spot yet.

*If you have anyone in your top 15 who's not in the poll yet, now's a good time to give a shout out. After #10, I plan on adding in Giroux, Wiseman, Helminen, and Taylor. I'll add in a few more guys after #12 (but I don't want more than 10 slots in the poll). I'm thinking Guenin, Potter, and Greg Moore but am very open to suggestion.

*I've said it before, but here's a recap: Betts, Blackburn, Labarbera, Marek, and Nycholat are ineligible for this poll as per HF rules. (Mike Green actually almost squeaks in as he turns 25 in August. I always thought he was an older career AHL guy)

*Mods: Please close polls for #7 and #8

I gave it to Murray... I like Baranka, but gave Murray the edge because he's considered a team leader. If he can turn into a strong 3rd liner, then he could be invaluable for many years. If Baranka shows steady improvement this year, he could rise quick in the standings... same with Mr. Liffiton

Immonen was up 20 to 18 over Baranka when he did the post. Two votes for Baranka went up post vote.

Aw, crap. Someone snuck in and voted for Baranka while I was typing the new poll up. However, I called it for this morning and called the post closed, so we might as well move on. Baranka fans (myself included) will just have to chalk the loss up to a bad call.

I wouldn't have had time to do the poll later today until tonight, and I figured Sunshine would have an aneurism if he had to wait that long, so I decided to call it now.

If Baranka is are 9th best prospect that is a very good sign because he will be a top 4 d-man

Poll for #9???

To: Poll Moderator,

Sir...you're giving yourself a tougher job than needed...
If Immonen is the winner of the 8th spot with apx. 20 votes (same as Baranka)...
Why not award Baranka the 9th spot since he has nearly the exact same # for the 8th place voting?...Make it easier for yourself bud-the info. was already there.

Why does this bother you so much?

I voted for Baranka, but he just barely edged out Falardeau in my books.....

Other College players to start listing as candidates soon include Ken Roche and Dylan Reese (when ou list the likes of Guenin, Potter and Moore)..

Baranka should run away with this one. Voted for him for #8 so he gets this vote also.

I expect Baranka to win, but thought there'd be more votes for Murray and Dawes (who had a good chunk of votes last round).

In the the Rangers' Top 20 Prospects POLL (#8) thread there was this thing I'd like to correct. Since it was already closed, I have to post it in here.

You mean the sake Padawan who said that Jarkko could just as easily be a 3rd line player?
I never said he could easily be 3rd line center. I said that he needs to play in the top 2 lines to produce. He is great two way forward imo but needs the ice time to feel useful and produce points. He is also used as a face off specialist and in the special teams. So my opinion is that if a team wants to take the best performance from Jarkko Immonen, then they have to put him in the first two lines.

Oh, btw, I voted for Baranka
