duchene doesn't look like himself.. he is lacking his usual jump

i think he is still injured, got injured with a "torso" injury at the end of the season and played through it in the playoffs.. i think he decided to play because he didn't get a chance to play at the world juniors and really wanted to jump on the opportunity, especially if it means olympics later in his career

that, or he's just fatigued from a long season, which is another possibility

I've seen it in previous threads. It'll happen later on in the tournament for sure.

Every year a few of us have to defend the IIHF tournaments and how they're performed. What some people question is why Canada has to be bothered by playing teams like Italy and Denmark, when really it's used as a measuring stick for the smaller countries, and results can occur as we saw yesterday with Germany. Germany's a bit different than Italy and Denmark, of course, but you get my point. This also happens quite a bit at the U20 tournaments when Canada is rolling over teams like Latvia 16-0. It's not for Canada's sake, it's for the development of Latvian hockey. However, a lot of people don't realize this and think the tournaments should be cut down to fewer teams, which would be the IIHF shooting itself in the foot.

He looked fine.

He made one bad play on the PP that led to a turnover and the puck being cleared. Besides that he cut through the neutral zone with speed 3-4 times and got a good hard shot on net. I have no idea what game you were watching. He was one of the top 2-3 forwards for Canada in the 1st....

I think overall Evander Kane, Stamkos, Whitney and Perry are the top performers.

Kane? What did he do besides take a bad penalty?

The only thing Perry did was jam a puck home from the top of the crease too.

Looks like Kane has grown into his body since September. I thought he was pretty good in the first along with Stamkos, Perry, Duchene and the energy line.

maybe i'm just expecting too much from him, just seems to be lacking some drive
agreed what you said earlier about the shot accuracy, needs to start putting those home and gaining some confidence

i am probably being too hard on him because he is the only player i am really focusing on

Of course the Italians are massively outgunned but they are making the most out of the situation and try to do their best. So far they are playing well defensively and try to be constructive on offense when they get the chance.
