Sergei Kostitsyn

Bob McKensie just posted a bit about Kostitsyn's current situation with the Habs, or really his lack of one. All indicators point to him getting a one way ticket out of town this summer. At this point, he shouldn't cost much to get.

Should we look at him? I know no one can be that excited about someone whose work ethic is only marginally better than his attitude, but you can't deny that he does have talent when he can be bothered to use it. There have already been plenty of questions about our locker room this season, but for a team that needs a top-6 winger and/or a 3rd line center, could it be worth a 4th/5th round pick to see if a change of scenery and a hardass coach changes anything?

I dont know, unless we have a plan to really settle this kid down and get his drive going. He looks like a cancer in the dressing room and might not be worth the trouble. Sure he did great in the olympics but thats different.

I say we look elsewhere.

Hartnell + Carle for Kostitsyn + Price?

Everybody wins!

Honestly, no interest in SK or AK.

No thanks.

Him and his organized crime groups can stay away from Philly

I have no problem with the player, but he seems to have an attitude problem.

A misguided and unearned sense of entitlement is closer to it.

Honestly, I can't say I blame him. When you outperform other teammates and the team decides that you are to be sent to the minors not because of your play, but because of your contract, then yes, I'd be upset.

The mistake Kostitsyn has made was that he expressed his discontent and now Montreal coaching and management are punishing him as a result. Let's not forget that this is also the same franchise that has a history of making examples out of players when they express frustration and anger with a situation.

It's Sergei Kostitsyn, and no.

If your goal is to win the Stanley Cup, acquiring Sergei Kostitsyn is counterproductive.

I don't know a lot about the situation. Did he work just as hard or harder than others in practice? Did he do everything he could to get along in the dressing room?

Performance on the ice is only part of the equation. I can understand him being frustrated by being sent down, but suck it up, wait for your chance to be called up and give them no choice (with your play and your attitude) but to keep you.

I'm not sure how many 20 or 21 year old kids feel they have the right to dictate his job situation (any job, not just pro hockey) to his employer, but I'm guessing not many.

I have no place for Kostitsyn. We don't need underachieving offensive forwards, we need balance and a goaltender.

Love the kid's talent. Not a big fan of the cherrypicking, although he's improved by leaps and bounds in the defensive zone.

He's not my favourite Hawk, but the talent can't be denied.

Do yourself a favour (or me....) and don't ask me about effing Perry.

On a cheap short term deal I wouldn't be opposed to it. He strikes me as a type who if negotiations weren't going his way would just play the KHL card. He certainly has talent, if he can check the ego I think he could be a solid player.

I wouldn't be opposed if his value really is as low as I've heard it is. Low risk, high reward type deal.

I'm with you. Powe is a dime a dozen forward that the Flyers have in abundance (Bellamy, Beaulieu, Holmstrom, Nodl, Kalinski, etc.....). A skilled guy like Kostitsyn playing with capable players like Giroux and JVR would do him a world of good.

Just Giroux would do wonders, you wouldnt even need JVR.

But yea, I wouldnt be opposed to getting him at the right price.

Reclamation projects rarely help teams win championships. Let some other team take a chance on him.
