Too long of a deal to give a kid who has work ethic and serious injury issues. I am not sure he will be in the league in 3 years.
However if Lehtonen can stay healthy for the next three years, it is a steal. High risk, high reward.
Sort of a knee-jerk reaction if you ask me. So you want to part ways with one of the best goalies of the better half of this generation and try to replace him too quickly. Not an "epic failure" as others have stated but I don't see the sense in this considering his scrutinized work-ethic and injury concerns. We'll see though. I must admit, it is odd to see Dallas as a non-threat in the West. It really hasn't been like this since Gainey was coach and GM. It really is somewhat sad to see the last generation of the greats that came about finally leave as well (Modano, Zubov, Belfour, etc.).
I really hope that Kari stays healthy and plays well next season. I watched him in finland and his talent is amazing. It's frustrating to see him injured all the time, because i know he can do better. Good luck in dallas.
