Question for the swede fans, can OEL in fact be a better prospect than Hedman? Also how has Omark looked in the tournament so far
?
While I think Hedman will become a good NHL defender, I think OELhas a higher ceiling and will soon overtake Hedman in terms of development, if he hasn't already.

I agree. It becomes more and more evident that Harju is a product of Omark rather than it being a case of them complementing each other.

Does it even matter who wins the group? It's about the points afaik but they keep going on and on about winning the group with this result.

OEL is already noticeably better...I'd say in every way.

Congrats Czehcs. Too many individual errors and too many missed shots for Sweden in this game. Better to have those errors during the group phase tho!

I would think OEL has surpassed Hedman as the better prospect yes.

As for Omark he hasnt been lights out, but he play his game well. Forechecks hard and plays tough around the crease and in the corners despite his size, or lack of it. I wouldnt mind to see a little more creativity from him though.

Giving up only two goals with our type of play is decent, but we gotta score more than once when we got constant flow of a 4th man rushing into the offensive zone taking risks. We lost because of our PP, both Czech goals were on and right after it and we didn't score.

Damn that sounds funny but it's even funnier because it's true

Maybe we have now a decent chance of winning Swedes at least once in this tournament

Don't Swedes have pretty bunch of Red Wings and Canucks joining the team these days? Or is Zetterberg too busy playing golf with Sedin twins?

Everybody from the Red Wings and Canucks, except for Jonathan Ericsson, as declined the invitation.

As it happens, the only player from the swedish Olympic team that has accepted is Jonas "monster" Gustafsson.

Can't say I'm too disappointed, we created more chances but Vokoun was the game breaker today.

Biggest problem is that our forwards are too stationary, too little movement away from the puck in the neutral zone. Which makes the Bergfors cut even more idiotic on BĹG's part. Nylander is cancer to this team, gets the puck and has a chance to start something good but instead he decides to go in circles on the offensive blue line.

Big mistake sending out the "first unit" on almost every single PP. The unit with Harju, Omark, MSP, Karlsson, and OEL created better chances and should have been out there from the start at every PP opportunity.

They probably have no sympathy to the coach. Otherwise, how can professional hockey player turn down the opportunity to help his native country on the world tournament is completely beyond me.

Try to ask Eliáš, Vrbata, Průcha or Hudler. They probably know the answer.

Also OEL was great, he has been all tournament long. But it's quite sad because many of the things he do is a result of poor effort from our forwards. Like I said, they are stationary with and without the puck, which gives our defencemen a hard time feeding them the puck. OEL many times had to start the rush himself or join in because forwards didn't.

Aside from OEL MSP was our best player today IMO. He was one of the few who actually skated hard, and also was very responsible defensively when covering for attacking defencemen.

And give Hedman a break, he's having some trouble switching back to the big ice but he's been rock solid on the pk and has stood up for Gustavsson several times.
