Bridgestone Arena was flooded, so any Predators games in the semifinals would have been moved. Atlanta is the nearest NHL city, but a Sharks-Predators playoff game wouldn't have been a huge draw there.
Trotz, who never took the discussions to the league level, said internal talks led to the conclusion all the second-round games would likely have been played in San Jose.
It was also suggested that a hockey-mad city like Toronto could have adopted the Predators for the playoffs.
"It actually made a little sense. You could take it to a hockey market in Canada via Toronto or something like that and probably draw OK," Trotz said.
Trotz laughed because he knew what would happen next.
"We would have started another rumor about (moving to) Hamilton," he said.
Makes sense. Games would have sold out. Preds would have received money from ticket sales. Don't have to change time zones multiple times. Don't have the best record at HP Pavilion, but with everything else considered...I think it would have the right decision.
