Awesome. I loved this kid at the World Juniors. Does this mean he'll be in the AHL next season?

He'll be back in land of Fin. He has military obligations(playing hockey) to finish up.

So the only one that is left that needs to be signed from 2008 is Jordan Bendfeld. Can he even re-enter the draft? This would be his third go around.

As for Hartikainen I think another year in Europe might be the way to go, why burn off years here? If he comes over too that is going to be alot of prospects with expiring contracts at the same time.

Awesome news.

He could be that 3rd line checking agitator that we need so badly.

They weren't just pulling everyone's chain when they said they'd have top talent for OKC.

It's good to see guys like this getting signed.

He still has military obligations? I thought he was finished with that.

Why would he sign then if he has military obligations still?

From what I gathered from other posters, it's his last year of mandatory military service. Everyone has to do it. And due to the Finnish agreement with the NHL, he's free to sign at anytime. Why wouldn't he sign?

He had to sign by June or we would have lost his rights and he'd go back in the draft.

While i have no idea one way or the other but are you thinking of Rajala by chance? I do know we had to sign him by June 1st, but I just don't remember anything about military service.

Oh god, I am thinking of Rajala. You're right. My mistake, sorry about that.

I'm pretty sure that they have to be in the AHL or NHL to lose years off of their contracts. There seems to be numerous guys that get ELC and then go back to Junior and don't lose any years.

This is very good news. I love his game. I hope he gets a shot sooner rather than later.

Great news. Now send him to Liane Davis for the rest of the summer. If he can fix his skating I think he'll have a long career as a 3rd line guy.

Well if the Oilers knew he wasnt going to be playing over here why sign him? Thats why I was wondering. But since we would have lost his rights, it makes sense now.
