Padres sign Brandon Morrow

He's probably hurt already

Frustrating as hell. All the potential, no consistency. Can look like he's un-hittable one day, can't get through 3 innings without hitting 100pitches the next.

Didn't they do this last year when they signed Josh Johnson. Morrow was the most frustrating pitcher to watch. So much talent. His stuff is filthy. No consistency. Always injured. Good luck to him in SoCal

I put out a prop bet to my friends, which will be higher: Brenden Morrow games played for the Lightning or Brandon Morrow innings pitched for the Padres.

I remember that one game he had against Tampa. I think 18 strikeouts and 1 hit ball. One of the best pitching performances I've ever seen.

I remember that game too. I really hope he is able to get back to his first half 2012 form when he was looking like a flat out dominant ace. Guy has wicked stuff and can get strikeouts at will, just his control and inconsistency and injury-proneness are so maddening. You think he's about to put it together, and then he either has a clunker or gets hurt and starts stinking it up. Just so frustrating.

Best of luck to Morrow in San Diego!

I can now confirm that Brandon Morrow is being shut down after signing the contract. He is out for a week which after he will be re-examined.

At least Padres rotation should be very good - Cashner, Ross, Kennedy, Despaigne, now Morrow if he rebound.

Despaigne is a 5 starter at best. I'd, honestly, rather have Stults in there.

He was a very fortunate starter last year, results wise.

I like this deal

No risk from the Padres, and Morrow has a chance to play in the best park for pitching, if he stays healthy at all he'll be effective and cash in next year.

Not even the biggest pitcher's park can fix his erratic and wild control.

Maybe he can trust his stuff more in the best pitcher's park there is, as opposed to the launching pad that is the Skydome? He has good stuff when he throws it over.

8 million dollars is a big risk for a small market team. 2 isn't.
