A's are all in, as they should be. You don't get these opportunities too often as a small market team.

Don't typically see two players for one prospect trades

So how would the Cubs fit in Casto, Baez and Russell in the future? Who moves to 2B?

Who is that kid? Let's trust the actual proven reporters please.

Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 4m
Deal is Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel for Addison Russell, Billy McKinney and Dan Straily, source confirms to @FOXSports1. No PTBNL.

Final housekeeping in A's-Cubs trade: There is indeed a PTBNL going along with Russell, McKinney and Straily for Samardzija and Hammel.

Contradicting sources!

Agreed.

This year might be their best shot yet and I felt they were going to make a move like this.

I won't say getting swept by Detroit this week finally persuaded them. But it sort of feels like it.

Cubs forced to move one Castro, Bryant, Baez or Russel.

Learned of this trade via ESPN's Sports Center ticker.

The only way Samardzija succeeds in the AL is if he receives run support.

Crazy. Don't normally see two starters moved from the same team in the same deal.

Castro will be gone/traded. Nobody moves to second because Alcantara is ready for a call up later this year. He is playing well for Iowa. Baez or someone will be moved to outfield. Bryant might move there even.

Castro May be traded. Baez to outfield....but he has had a poor year but played better as of late. Bryant....no ****ing way he is moved. He has killed everywhere he has played. Batting .388 in Iowa now.

Really sucks seeing Russell leave but they needed another starter badly with both Parker and Griffin done for the year and Pomeranz out. They have a bonafide ace now.

Hope Straily figures it out in Chicagoland

He's going to the team leading baseball in runs, so, yeah...o

Don't think that mattered honestly.

They needed a front of the line starter for the playoffs regardless of that late June early July series.

No they won't. They probably will move someone, but they're not going to be forced to.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Starlin in CF.
