With Roth on the mound tommorow I can see South Carolina winning. Hoping it goes 3 games. I also want South Carolina to win but not fussed if Arizona wins it. It'll be well deserved. Konner Wade has been fantastic.

Yeah it did. You get to see Jose Fernandez pitch? His stuff looked electric. He has or will be moving up everyones rankings rapidly.

Only 1 start and he got lit up (1st A+ start).

His A-ball numbers are terrific. Not bad for a kid who is still 19. He's probably 1-2 years away tops especially with Marlins known to be pushing their prospects.

Now 36 SO in 37 AB. He should probably go back to UW and stick to football.

Billy Hamilton has stolen 104 bases in high A this year.

6 SB in 7 games in AA. If he could hit for contact he could develop into a really nice weapon.

For anyone interested I posted a mid-season top 20 Pirates prospects list over at the Penguins board.

Finished 0-39 with 37 Ks. He was apparently robbed of a hit in the last at bat of the season. I put up similar numbers when I was eight and just tried to walk every single time up. Think I had a .600 OBP and .000 SLG. I give him credit for trying though and would like to see him give it a shot next summer.

Prized Pirates prospect Starling Marte will make his debut in Houston tonight. It appears the starting left field job is his for the remainder of the season.

Watched Billy Hamilton in person tonight against Huntsville, dude is quick(duh) and seems to have a good eye.

First 3 PA's were walks, got caught stealing his first walk, caused a balk and had 2 steals. Fourth AB(by the 5th inning, that's how bad this game was) was a strikeout, but it was a 3-2 count. He ended up seeing 25 pitches or so his first four AB's. Seemed to be an ideal leadoff hitter, especially if he can hit .280 and get on base at about a .350 clip. He didnt really have many chances in the field, but seemed to handle the limited ones just fine.

No one else of note in this game, it was pretty terribly played. No errors or anything glaring, just poor pitching.

Johnny Hellweg pitched for Huntsville. He was part of the Greinke trade.

Hellweg didn't impress last night, I left after 6 and he was in line for the win. Erratic control and not many swings and misses.

Sucks for Nationals but Lucas Giolito will have to undergo Tommy John surgery.

He had an elbow injury when he was drafted. If he didn't, he might have gone first overall.

Well...that's why he was drafted where he was. Without that injury he'd have been the #1 pick (or at least best prospect in the draft).

The Nationals have had two consecutive first overall talents fall to them...but those two have a lot to overcome to live up to their peak potential.

Anthony Rendon's stat line this year is pretty hilarious...the most games he's played at one level so far is 10 in AA...the Nats were somewhat aggressive in moving him up, despite all the injuries.

Jameson Taillon was promoted to AA Altoona last week and threw 5 shutout innings in his debut, striking out 6 and walking 0 (4 hits). He'd been great the past month after being rather pedestrian for about a month and a half.

Casey Kelly to make his debut on Monday.

There was also a rumor that Orioles would call up Bundy on Septemeber 5th or 6th.

Josh Sale, the first round pick of the Rays in 2010, has been suspended 50 games for testing positive for "methamphetamine and an amphetamine." He's the FOURTH Rays prospect (all with the Bowling Green Hotrods) in a span of days to get busted for meth.

The agent for one of them (Ryan Brett) claims it's from taking Adderall.

This can only mean one thing: Heisenberg is on the Rays' payroll.
