Well done, A's.

Jesus Montero is 13 for his last 30 (.433) with four doubles & three homers.

This guy is good.

Chris Carter was sent back down after a horrific MLB stint. 0 for 19 with 9 strikeouts and only 1 walk. Wow. Totally not ready. O.o

The Pirates signed prized Mexican 16 year-old Luis Heredia today for $2.6 million bringing their total signing money to $11.65 million for three teenage pitchers this week in Jameson Taillon, Stetson Allie, and Luis Heredia.

Lots of flame-throwers in the system...Heredia is 6'6" already and still hasn't come close to filling his frame and has been pitching 92 MPH fastballs as a 15 year-old with three other pitches described as plus pitches (and a fifth pitch that isn't so great). Boundless potential there but he is still just a 16 year-old pitcher so I'm not going to get as excited about him as I am with Taillon and Allie.

This breaks the Pirates previous International signing bonus record by $2.2 million.

AWWW MAN, I WANTED THE JAYS TO GET HIM

That's 3 very high-upside arms in the Pirate organization.

Has anyone seen the KC Royals prospects lately? Their stock has been skyrocketing.

-2 very good lefties: Mike Montgomery and John Lamb. Duffy is also pretty good.

- Eric Hosmer, Wil Myers and Mike Moustakas have been hitting very well. 3 very good hitting prospects. Wil Myers looking like a very good offensive catcher.

They've turned it around with their farm system.

Dont forget Von Rosenborg. His upside isn't of the other 2 (dont know much about the Mexican kid) and he isn't a flame thrower but he's got 3 quality pitches and good control. He has a chance to be a very good pitcher.

Royals system is my 2nd favorite minor league system.

Their farm has definitely been doing well.

I love that the Rays still have great pitching prospects in their farm system despite Davis, Price and Hellickson having graduated.

The Reds will call up Aroldis Chapman on Monday or Tuesday. Promoting Chapman before September 1 makes him eligible for the playoffs.

Mike Stanton's now at 18 home runs. Average and strikeouts still aren't very pretty to look at though.

Jeremy Hellickson has struggled out of the bullpen lately :/

Looks like Pirates have just about secured #1 pick in next year's draft. They are on 51 wins and next closest are Mariners with 57. Lets hope they make better use of it this time around. Last time they had 1st overall pick they chose Bryan Bullington, before that it was Kris Benson. Anthony Rendon or 1 of Cole/Purke could be Pittsburgh bound.

Hopefully the Pirates stay away from picking a pitcher 1st overall and go for a position player. They seem to have enough high risk/high potential pitchers in their system. A player like Rendon could be a real difference maker for them (dare I say that he might actually help them to a winning season...). They've been down for so long that you have to have a soft spot in your heart and hope that they don't blow this opportunity.

Agreed, drafting Taillon and Allie was definitely great for their organization, especially if they are given the time to develop properly.

Dustin Ackley is raking in the Arizona Fall league, hitting .424 with a OPS over 1.300

I'll have to disagree, he's #5 for me. Brown and Hellickson should be 1-2 IMO. I would also rank Hellickson and Montero above him ... just. Those last 2 are extremely debatable.

This is the rough top-15 I posted on Rangers board couple weeks ago.

1. Domonic Brown
2. Jeremy Hellickson
3. Desmond Jennings
4. Jesus Montero
5. Mike Trout
6. Bryce Harper
7. Julio Teheran
8. Mike Moustakas
9. Zach Britton
10.Freddie Freeman
11.Eric Hosmer
12.Martin Perez
13.Michael Pineda
14.Dustin Ackley
15.Matt Moore

*didnt include Champan

Yup, Montero is top-5. I'm putting my bias aside here and whether he plays catcher or not he still needs to be in top-5. His bat is that good.

You can make a case for Harper from anywhere between #1 and #7. You have lack of proffesional ABs but you also have that star potential. Harper is the guy with 'the' biggest ceiling in minors right now. While a move to OF may make it look like it's hurting his value what it also does is fast-track his journey to majors. Harper the catcher may have played in 3-4 years, Harper the outfielder may challenge for a roster spot as early as 2012 depending on how quickly he progresses. He will probably start at High A.

Jennings is a little low. I guess some have soured on him due to healthy issues. Looks like he'll start the year in AAA.

Hicks at #39 is IMO also little low. I know he repeated MID but he started sluggishly and then played well rest of the way. He should have a big 2011. Gibson too. He doesnt have a high upside however.

I like Martin Perez ranking. They didnt sour on him too much, rightfully so.

Gary Sanchez, Jonathan Singleton and Matt Moore could be top-10/top-15 prospects this time next year. Parker too if he stays healthy. Moore could be top-5 depending on how many people graduate. Price-Moore could be a nightmarish 1-2 to face in 2-3 years time.

Royals are reportedly moving catcher Will Myers to outfield. His D is probably passable behind the plate but his bat is good and they want him in the lineup regularly. With Butler at DH and Hosmer at 1B it only makes sense to put him in the outfield. He has enough athleticism to make a move to OF and it fast-tracks him to KC.

A's fans will probably feel little cheated by not having Grant Green in top-50.

Willin Rosario (Rockies catcher) will miss parts of 2011 season which is a shame but he could be next year's Will Myers. His bat isn't as good as Myers' but he projects as above average defensively. Rosario has 25 HR power.

No Randall Delgado in there too. Padres may feel little hard done by not having Simon Castro in there. Hard to get them all in there.

Anyways that's just me rambling.

I'm disappointed Jean Segura didn't make the list, but I have a feeling he'll make Keith Law's. Still excited about Trout though.
