I am still wired. That has to have been the best hockey game I ever saw.

I think I'm gonna finally try to lul myself to sleep with TSN blaring, as they constantly do replays of this game.

Agreed, but the problem then becomes where the hell do you put everyone? If he comes back we've got 4 top 6 centers and obviously not 8 top 6 wingers.

Gagne - Richards - Carcillo/Nodl
JVR - Carter - Giroux
Hartnell - Briere - Leino <---don't want to break that line up
Powe- Betts - Carcillo/Nodl
Asham

I haven't posted since the win. I'm still trying to process it all.

I know that what it means immediately is another series to prep for, and at least four more games of Flyers hockey. And that should be enough.

But somehow it feels like, I don't know, like there are no rules any more. Like the Flyers have transcended the possible and now exist on a level where they will do exactly what they have the will to do. That might be win or all or it might be flame out, but...I dunno. It just feels different.

I have to make a confession.

I went to sleep after it was 3-0 Bruins. I was tired and actually would've stuff to do about right now. But it's the playoffs, no excuses, I sucked last night.

That being said, color me puzzled. After I woke up I just checked the final score on my phone, had to look three times till I realized it.

I am speechless.

I wrote this yesterday, but chose to not jinx it, because I haven't posted at game days in the playoffs.
Quote:
At the end of the Bruins‘ last regular season game, in which they clinched their playoff berth, the much-maligned announcer Jack Edwards delivered a closing speech in which he recapitulated the team’s season and how they, quote, “climbed out of hockey-hell”.

Following this Flyers’ season, every Flyer fan knows that this season was a rollercoaster just as much as it was for the Bruins.

Underperforming core players, the fear of having overpaid for the missing piece by losing vital futures, a never ending story about a riff in the locker room and most certainly an astonishing number of injured goaltenders. The Flyers sure had to face their fair share of adversity, but nevertheless this team hung tough, clinching the last playoff spot available league-wide, not with a tight win, not with a late game winning goal and also not by overtime heroics, but with a
shoot-out win over the rivals from the Big Apple.

And though they lost their best shooting forward along with their best shot-blocking forward the Flyers upset the number two seed in the eastern conference. Another arch rival’s season was ended as Brian Boucher, drafted by the Flyers 15 years ago and come back a second time to the City of Brotherly Love this offseason, outplayed the best goalie in the long history of the NHL.

And now the Flyers clawed themselves back into this season once again, they became just the sixth team to force a seventh game after being down three to nothing. With Simon Gagne the spirit came back in Game 4, and although they lost yet again a goalie to injury in Brian Boucher, Michael Leighton, another of so many feel good stories on this Philadelphia Flyers team came in and didn’t look like the journeyman he once was. He’s now the starting goaltender of a great team, a team that has done remarkable things and has written remarkable stories. They sure want to make this second round another feel good story. They will make history today as they push the Bruins right back.
Right back into hockey-hell.

If this ends up being true that's unfortunate. I think he's been better than either Carcillo or Asham this series. He's a good forechecker and his hands haven't been too bad either.

Sports Illustrated has a gallery of the worst collapses in hockey. And hey, Ovie makes an appearance with the best expression on his face I've seen so far

It's so great to see the guys get all the credit in the media up here. Most of the talk has been about the Habs since they did such amazing things but everyone on TSN last night was gushing about Philly. Can't wait to fully wake up and read the articles.

Congrats from a Isles fan......

The fact that it hadn't been done in 35 years (since the Isles in '75) and 33 years before that in '42 with the Leafs, plus you guys beat Boston (damn Red Sox beating the Yankees like that!)

But especially since it was 3-0 this game and you guys came back. Can't imagine how nuts it will be to go against the Canadians. Still i will be routing for you guys to win the cup. (partially because if the Isles ever move i will become a Flyers fan)

Awesome game.

I'd personally dump Powe before Nodl, Nodl has played better and earned a spot.

I think if anyone is out when or if carter gets back, maybe it should be Carcillo. Powe is needed on the PK with the injury to Lappy and he can sub at center, Nodl can sub in on the PK, and has played very well, Asham is playing showing really good chemistry right now with Giroux and JvR, and nothing against Carcillo, but at this point, the other mentioned guys bring more to the table that is needed in the playoffs

Me too, I love how the Bruins are crying over the to many men penalty, especially Thornton

Did you see Recchi moping about it in his post-game interview?

I was really, really disappointed to see that. I would think a guy like Rex would just man up and admit that they blew it, not blame the officials for making what's just a black-and-white call.

It was blatantly too many men, what can you do?
