Rene Bourque Overtime Hero for Panthers

Rene Bourque scored 49 seconds into the first overtime period to advance the Florida Panthers to the Eastern Conference Finals. The victory in game 7 against the Buffalo Sabres marked a wonderful comeback that saw Florida down 3-1 in the series, only to win 3 games in a row.

"I'm just ecstatic right now," says Panthers captain Shane Doan. " We never gave up hope and we kept battling and we pulled this one out as a team."

Not only is this the Panthers second playoff series victory ever (after the first round defeat of New Jersey), but it's the first time the franchise has made it to the Conference Finals.

"Everything that has been done to turn this franchise around; all the patient years have led up to this point," said Panthers G.M. Brock Otten. "Now we just have to bring home the Stanley Cup. There's no stopping us now."

Congrats, Brock. That one must sting pretty bad in HF Buffalo.
