yeah sure, i mean, why not ostracize an entirely gender community in an attempt to make an immature joke that has no relevance to hockey? this wont humiliate our city on a national level or anything.

Yea, I am sure there were more people thinking, "Really?" when they did that than there were people participating in the wave.

When the habs fans do the chant, it always amazes me.

It's is so ****ing ridiculous that I can't wrap my head around the fact that they are serious in doing it.

It always sounds to me like they are mocking themselves.

err...is it bad that i actually like the wave, because it gets my ass out of the seat and gets me back into the game for a minute before i get bored again?

The funny thing about the Ole last night was the Vs. announcer saying something like, "They have started the original Ole here. Philly did a cover of it the other day." The original is in Spain at soccer games. They are just as much originators of the chant as they are the wave. But, Vs. announcers seem to love Mtl fans. It's actually kind of awkward.

It's no different than the Let's Go Flyers chant or any other chant that encourages the team. And based on the fact that the Bell Centre is filled with bilingual fans, it eliminates having two different chants going at the same time. I don't have a problem with it at all, and it's more creative than Let's Go ________ or Go _______ Go!!

The fact that you guys hate it so much is partly why it's done... You guys don't get this, apparently.

Personally, I don't mind it as long as we're winning... I only cringe when they chant it if we're down or tied.

Same here. I think its awesome that they have such a unique chant. Lets Go ____ or Go ___ GO is so damn lame. I dont ever say it at the games because its ********. Having a unique chant on the other hand, would be awesome.

Except I don't think it's unique. To me it will always be a soccer chant. I would rather use the generic chant than something from another sport that is being passed off as unique. No it's not unique. I'd prefer Let's Go ____ to that unless I came up with something truly unique AKA never been done (different melody and all).

Even still. If the Blackhawks took the Braves indian chant thing, would that be cool? I'd say "no you're lame...get your own chant."

Sure, but the point is Go ________ Go! is even less original and less cool. Also I'm pretty sure the Braves stole that chant from FSU to begin with.

It' SO unoriginal that it was never original. It is generic, that's the point.

There were reports that the Habs players were singing it in their dressing room after the game 7 Pens win.

Originally it seemed like a stupid soccer chant but it seems to be acquiring some Canadiens-Hockey credibility that's making it less cringe worthy. If it's good enough for tough dudes like Gomez, Gionta, Gill, Gorges, Moen, etc. to be singing, I think it's a little past those euro-trash origins.

Oh sorry.

Ole and the wave don't belong in a hockey arena.

And, I guess rugby fans that sing Ole Ole should be ashamed as well.

Well, ya in that case, because of the similar theme behind both team names. The chop is specific to the Native theme, if the Hawk fans did that it be copying / and lame.

But Ole Ole does not have a native theme (or any type of theme).

Do you know what it means?

You're calling out the Montreal Canadiens home crowd? lol

They were essentially the 7th player on the ice last night.
