KOTOR/KOTOR 2 on Windows 7

Anybody know how to get it to work? I believe I've picked all the low-hanging fruit here(ie giving the game permission to access its own directory, run in XP mode, etc.). It just refuses to run, although the initial menu does come up.

I've never actually played them, believe it or not, and would like to.

Any help would be appreciated, including stuff I mentioned in the first sentence there if anyone suspects it's been done incorrectly.

I have another XP box I could run it on if I want, but would prefer to run it on my new machine.

There is really no reason why it shouldnt work. I bought KOTOR on Steam and it runs on my Win7 machine just fine, not even in XP mode, as does BG2 and every other older game I have played. My guess is it is a video or video driver or resolution type problem if you are getting to the main menu then crashing. I would check your video card settings, AA, Triple buffering, vertical sync, anistropic filtering; those type settings, some older games dont like that stuff?

Not much help but just letting you know I have never had any problems.

Same here. Also I guess just make sure you have all the latest drivers, updates, etc.

I just did a KOTOR 2 play through and I had trouble on XP even. Graphic drivers were the culprit in my situation.

As for the actual game, I'd highly recommend for KOTOR 2 the restored mod.

And if you are really enterprising:

Don't forget the updated HUD files to fix the mini map if you use the widescreen fixes.

Assuming your monitor is wide screen anyway.

Did you try right-clicking the shortcut and choosing "Run as Administrator"?

Yeah, I ran as administrator. didn't matter.

I'll have to look into the drivers, although I have the latest catalysts.

Hey man, I just found something:

go to: www.gamecopyworld.com

PC games, and then find KOTOR under S for Star Wars, and they have the vista/windows 7 crash fix.
