Saw Matt Hackett tonight against Owen Sound.

Hackett has not had a very strong start to the season, so it was good to see him have a solid game. He reads and reacts to the play very well. He covers his angles and is technically sound. The two shots that beat him were breakaway goals by Steven Shipley, where he committed too early to the ice and Shipley beat him high. But he's a solid goaltender, positionally sound, controls his rebounds pretty well. Needs to continue to string together solid games in order to get consideration for Team Canada at the WJC's. He made 31 of 33 saves for the win.

I read in a Michael Russo chat that he tried to get into a couple schools (both out east if I remember correctly), but it was too late for this year. Apparently he's still at Wisconsin, just not on the hockey team.

Sallinen scored his first SM-liiga goal today, and it was actually a game-winner in lopsided game. Blues won 6-2 against Jokerit.

At least by now, his back seems OK, after he missed majority of last season. I was kind of surprised to see him drafted after that.

Saw Bjorn Krupp play tonight...

I wasn't surprised to see Krupp fail to get drafted in 2009. I was surprised when he received a contract from you guys at your training camp. I'm sorry, but if this guy's last name wasn't Krupp, he'd be getting no attention (and this coming from a guy who was a huge fan of Uwe growing up). There are three dozen available defenseman in the OHL who are better than Krupp, yet do not have the opportunity he's been presented with. In the first period he coughed the puck up twice in his own zone trying to make a pass over the blueline, and he also got turned inside out by Daniel Pachis on a rush as he got caught playing the puck and not the man. Now granted he settled down in the second and third periods, but he's playing on the third defensive pairing of a rebuilding team and he's got a team low -11 rating. If he's going to continue to struggle with the puck, he's going to have to do a better job of playing defense and taking the man. I just don't see it, but to each their own (or Wild's own since it's obvious 29 other teams didn't see it either).

Once again, thanks Brock.

Even if it is a prospect that has virtually no shot, it is still good to get information directly from someone who is/has seen the player play.

With the way our season seems to be going, we should keep an eye on Taylor Hall, Kirill Kabanov, and Tyler Seguin. lol

nah not fowler...i know he's a stud and such...but we need to start drafting some OFFENSE.

this team has no young studs on offense period...unless you consider koivu young...

cuma and leddy are last 2 first rounders Defense....cuma more stay at home guy, leddy offense first.

Time to get a stud forward on this team...dangggggg been since Gaborik since we truly added a goal scoring forward in the draft.

Sallinen with another goal today. He played powerplay too and scored on a rebound to give Blues 1-0-lead. Blues won 4-3.

Adding stats to the playoff guys, will update bi-weekly or so, whenever I see fit. I will make a new one next year, but will look similar to this.

That's pretty much ending stats except for the AHL guys, but I basically did all the "prospects" as according to Hockey's Future website, so I think I'll update it at season's end. Tell me if you see any issues.

Good point.

I'll settle for 2 dominating years as a Gopher, then he can get his Calder.

I have some formatting issues with it, but I'll fix them in time. Not quite done yet, but I will update with playoff stats and such. I think it may be easier to just keep updating the tracker on the first post and we can continue the discussion, but it will be easier to do next year when the table is already made.

Thoughts on Tyler Cuma from the Ottawa/Niagara series.

I'm really not sure what's going on with Cuma. This year has not been a strong one for him, his first after knee surgery. He looks lost on the ice...truthfully. Before the surgery, he was a budding two way defenseman who looked confident bringing the puck up and running the powerplay, but who was also poised to become one of the best defensive defenseman in the league. Now, he's neither. It's almost as if he doesn't know what he should be either. Offensively, he turned the puck over way too many times and had the most trouble with the Niagara forecheck of any 67's defenseman. He had some really sloppy passes in the series. And on the point on the powerplay, he just doesn't look as comfortable as guys like Julien Demers, Travis Gibbons or even the young Cody Ceci. Defensively, he was good in one on one situations and remains very difficult to beat to the net. But in the zone, he's running around too much. While it's good that he's upped his aggressiveness this season, it's bad that he seems to be reliant on it now to play in the defensive zone. Before, he was much more reliant on anticipation, reading the play, and using his stick. Now he's going around trying to be a bully and it's not working for him. Cuma just needs to simplify his game and get back to the basics that made him such a coveted player in 2008. Here's hoping that the AHL provides this wake up call because he used to be one of my favourite defenseman to watch in the league. Most telling stat. Julien Demers and Travis Gibbons finished the series +17. Cuma and Zanetti finished the series -4.

I appreciate the update. Thanks. It's hard to know how our prospects are doing just by looking at stats.

Hopefully some seasoning down in the AHL will get his game back on, and I'm sure that CF won't be bringing him up until he's ready (or at least I hope).

After all that work, I actually took a lot at the stats and our top scoring forward in the AHL that is considered a prospect is Kalus at 21 pts. 12G - 9A. That's kind of depressing. Haula hopefully blossoms into something, and maybe Foucault will be an okay player.

Our biggest strength is our D prospects, but that's mostly because we don't have any forward prospects.

This is just looking at stats, so we don't really know how they played and how they looked.

I hope that at least 2 of our top 3 picks will be on forwards.

The two guys in the OHL playoffs, Cuma and Hackett.

Hackett made 35 saves on 40 shots. I saw his goals against on a highlight reel, most were deflections in front of him. I may have to buy that package to watch AHL games next year since we have so many guys coming into the AHL.

Cuma was a -2 I believe with no points.
