Finland is dominating the first period. But not scoring. As per usual.

5 minutes left and Finland has almost 20 shots in the first period. Still 0-0.

The russians have had a couple of nice tic-tac-toe moves but Vehanen is cool.

Vehanen again! How does he get that into his glove?! The russians look stunned.

But can the Finns create clear scoring chances or are the shots more or less harmless?
I think they miss Petteri Nummelin especially in PP!

His smartness is also missed in the transition game. Finland takes alot more time to get to the russians zone.

Surprising amount of quality shots.

Petteri Nummelins absence is extremely visible on the pp, no one knows what to do!

Ovechkin's first assist of the tournament (after 5 goals, including 4 game-winners)

Meh. The ref made up for that huge hooking from Vatanen earlier. The refs are good this far.

I really hope Petteri Nummelin can play again against the Czechs, he is the key player for Finland and nothing works in PP without him!

If only Niskala wasn't on the ice whenever we needed someone who could play defence... or offence for that matter.

Gonna be hard to tie it at 1 when the Russians make it 2-0 on this 5-on-3.

That period was Finland's chance. They blew their load and have nothing to show for it. Russia will wake up in the 2nd, and the rout will be on.
