I like the Habs to have size as anybody but size has not been a factor in the playoffs so far. If it would have been the case Boston would have beat Philly as Boston kept hammering them and hammering them but skills won in the end.
If Bergy plays game 3 or 4, I will truly wonder if Martin has lost it. At least maybe we could see Markov return? Meh, probably not. Knowing Andrei these days, he'd probably get hurt again. This time the other knee. Seriously, when your best players get hurt all the time, you need to bulk up the team! But this franchise is allergic to adding size. That said, our best warriors are tiny and our bigger dudes (Andrei K, Pouliot, 3rd and 4th line guys) either can't score or can't fight through traffic.
This failing so far makes perfect sense. All year we played better teams real well and teams around us in the standings we sucked against. So it figures for the 09-10 Habs to slay the top 2 teams in the East then get easily handled by an equal 88 pt. team that finished 7th.
I've been reminding people of that before this series VS Flyers started.
But give credit to the Flyers; they are outdoing us using our own gameplan. They wait for their chances and actually capitalize on them.
We need to add that "in front of the net" dimension in the off-season -- there's a winger or two on the team right now we can do without.
I'm mad at certain players that rode Cammy and Gionta's coat-tails all of the 2nd round, and who continue to bring nothing when Cammy and Gionta have now gone cold, but it's not the team that's the issue.
Guys like Pleks and AKost need to start producing. They haven't done anything offensively since round one.
Pleks is seriously making me wonder if we should give him 4 to 5 million a year. If he doesn't bring it in the playoffs, what's the point?
The "Frenchies" killing us is not a trend. Those are their best two scorers without Carter around. It'd be a symptom of Quebecois curse if Pittsburgh beat us riding the efforts of Letang (who did score 3 times against us might I add), Talbot, Dupuis and Fleury. But no, that didn't happen. When a rival team's best players kill us and they happen to be French, it means nothing to me. It's when backups and unheralded nobodies do it that bothers me.
Why am I hearing all this talk about Leighton? He has had no ****ing work! I can handle getting beaten by a better team but for ****s sakes at least try to score a ****ing goal. He's a career AHLer...I don't care about this year's record...shoot high get in front of the net, jump on the rebounds...textbook hockey.
