Why a 6 month recovery? Not that I'm saying it's BS, just trying to understand why it takes a 6 month recovery.

Mind you, I would trade any sort of discount in for 2 healthy seasons of Markov.
Oh yeah he will, his knee will be fully rehabilitated by then and the teams record with and without him speaks for itself. And if thats not enough of a bargaining chip for him to get a big contract from the habs, then there will be a lineup of other gm's drooling at the chance to sign him. His market price will be sky high.

ACL tear recover takes a long time.

Sucks, I have a feeling that Markov might not be the same anymore. Sucks cuz he's one of my faves.

Its says "up to" 6 months. I am willing to bet he'll be ready to go when training camp rolls around.

He's a UFA after 2010-11, as well.

Yeah, because he was obviously the sole reason we made the playoffs this year, being our best defenseman in all 82 games. Oh wait...

Not to be an ass, but Markov needs to learn to protect himself better. There was nothing wrong with Cooke's hit and I thought he even had it pretty easy up to that point in the playoffs considering he's our best Dman. At some point you have to move your perception from "can't catch a break" to "fragile player". Maybe not just yet, but we're getting close to that label. The condensed schedule sure didn't help, hopefully next year he can put all this behind him.

With Markov there is no such thing as a minor injury is there? Hopefully he can get healthy and back within a reasonable time frame..

Im scared with Markov now, he is becoming more and more injury prone, you cant rely on him too much, he's just gonna injure himself from gay ass plays.

**** you Matt Cooke

and markov, gotta be more careful

Lol this will be fun. Laperriere plus Carter come back we no markov.

IMAGINE IF WE WIN

Montreal should trade him prior to next trade deadline, I think with the coming of Subban, it's time to let him go, grab a prospect or good pick. And spend the money on a center like Jeff Carter, Marleau etc. I dont know the UFA for 2011.

Please dont flame me, It's my opinion.

Better for him to recover 100% than rushing back and aggravate his injury. Who knows, he might be our 'secret' weapon when we're fighting for the playoff next season...

I'd consider trading Markov at this point if the right offer comes along. With the emergence of Subban , Markov being on the last year of his contract and due for a raise and him showing signs of becoming an injury prone player i think this could be an option.

Now i'm not saying that we should shop him around or anything because he's still pretty valuable to us but i don't think he should be considered untouchable anymore , especially if we can get some young premium prospects/players that would help us in the future.

A package of Markov + One of the two goalie (especially if Price) + maybe something else (Kost , 1st , Hammer ect) would certainly fetch something very nice.

I wouldn't trade him unless an amazing deal would be possible.

I still think Markov could be a great mentor for Subban.

That would be miraculous goaltending and an appallingly bad Eastern conference.

I can't say I'm too confident both conditions will reoccur next year.

Injuries are disappionting, whether they are intentional, or not. 2 years in a row we have needed our best player, and 2 years in a row he has been injured.

Ripping your ACL/MCL 2 years in a row, isn't a good sign of things to come, and he isn't a spring chicken any more.

His ankle injury may have led to this one...since his return his skating wasn't what it was before the injury...so he couldn't elude forechecker like he had done before.

Subban is "emergin" into the NHL, but IMHO he won't be ready to be a 1st pair guy for another 3-4 years. If you ask too much of him too early he'll turn into Mike Green.
