Leafs get:
Sharp
Byfuglien

Hawks get:
Kaberle
Grabovski

I'm not sure about this trade because of chicago's cap issues, but is it ok value wise?

-Chicago wants to get rid of salary
-They already have Campbell who fills the same role as Kaberle
-They have absolutely no interest in Grabovski. Actually they have negative interest in him. He doesn't fit their team in the slightest.

Neither team does this. Toronto wants no part of Byfuglien and wouldn't trade Kaberle for only Sharp. Chicago wants no part of Grabovski and can't afford Kaberle.

Both teams do not do this. Chicago doesn't want to take on cap room, even if they are getting about the same amount of cap back. Also Toronto knows Chicago is in a position where they will be forced to trade players due to cap restrictions. Sharp and Byfuglien will not be traded for too much, as GM's know the position Chicago is in, and won't it will be easier to get them for a bargain.

Stefanovich can be a future 30 goal scorer. I wouldn't give him up for a 2nd liner and a salary dump.

If I were Chicago, I would not be even thinking of considering dealing Byfuglien. He is an absolute monster in the playoffs.

There is no reason to do this trade. Chicago is a cap troubled team that has a very strong defensive core, trading the talent they'd be trading away for another top 4 defensive player they have no room for makes no sense, especially for a player who is the final deal of his contract. There is no chance that Chicago could resign him and now they have two strong players off their roster as well. Just another bad Kaberle proposal from a leafs fan giving him far to much value for only 1 year left on his contract.

Swap Byfuglien for Versteeg (so the Leafs aren't taking 2 salary dumps) and it works.

The Leafs aren't going to get to the playoffs if they're paying Byfuglien $3million; and getting there has to be priority #1.

Meanwhile, I don't see why Byfuglien & Sharp would both be traded. Versteeg is as good as gone because he hasn't given them $3million reasons to keep him, and from there they'll only have to make a choice between Byfuglien & Sharp to clear the rest neccessary(unless they are able to get rid of Huet adn get a $3million replacement). As for which one to keep....that's a damn tough call. Buffy is huge for the Hawks in the playoffs because he terrorizes goaltenders, and I'd argue that they wouldn't have anywhere near their current level of success without him. Meanwhile, Sharp is a great player to have for the regular season (specially because of his versatility when players get hurt), and he's producing over a point a game in the playoffs (3rd on the team).

I'd rather have Byfuglien. Love his size, speed and hands. He hasn't even hit his prime which is the scary part. We need a power forward like Byfuglien. We already have players like Versteeg, but better (or will be)... (Kulemin and Kessel... and center versions in Kadri and Bozak)

Chicago fans can correct me if I'm wrong... but most of the season, didn't he play 3rd line... Now in the playoffs, he's getting more minutes, and playing on the top line. Thats why he's producing so well...

Byfuglien is a ****ing enigma. He was a third-line forward for a long while and didn't do much, then he was a top-pairing defenseman for a while until his play tailed off and then he was a third-line forward again and, again, didn't do much and now he's a top-line forward and playing insanely well.

As many probably have noted, I don't think the Hawks should trade him at all. His play this year, while solid, was unremarkable but his potential is off the charts. Not to mention that he seems to be some kind of playoff warrior and The Luongo Destroyer. I've just never seen a guy like him and I don't think it's a good idea, in general, to trade unique players.
