Finland 3-1. The last one in the empty net.

I hope.

Finland 3-2 and a whole lot of defence and goaltending.

I hope.

If Finland can skate like hell for the whole sixty minutes and gets its power play really working, it might have a good chance in winning. Otherwise Russia will dominate with its huge skill level, even though Rinne/Vehanen will surely try to prevent it with their effort.

Wonder how some of the Finnish dmen will look out there on the ice... But it will be a great game, no doubt about that.

My prediction: 3-2 RUS

My thumbs are up for the Finns, I hope they can win.

But I'm afraid Russia is too strong, they have Kovalchuk, Ovechkin, Datsyuk.....

My prediction is 3-2 or 4-2 for Russia.

Russia is waayyyyy too strong for finns and Nummelin is out for this game. Even if Finland had their a-team Russia might be too strong, but since it's our b-c team, there is no way Finland takes this. 4-1 Russia.

Oh dear, I just read that. And looks like Santala is in the line-up and Osala will be a extra.

Santala is back

As for the game, something like 5-3 or 4-2 for Russia sounds likely.

Ouch just read about that. Well on the other hand there is no shame in losing to a team like that it's basically vancouver v2.0 on russias behalf. Why did the idiot take Santala back in ? He's been HORRIBLE every game he played while Osala has actually brought something needed on the table - physicality, which is NEEDED against a team like Russia. I just hope he realizes to switch Osala back after this game, luckily we won't lose anything by getting beat 6-0 today.

Ok, without Nummelin Finland will be without any chance anyway why always the Finns lose their best players? But I think Finland would lose also with Nummelin, Russia is too strong.

I hope he will be able to play the quarterfinal if not they will lose the quarterfinal too.

I fear this one is going to be an ass-whooping of epic proportions. Nummelin and Kukkonen are out. Russian Olympic caliber offense will rip our D apart! Vehanen has to stand on his head to keep the numbers down. Actually I think this is a good way solve the goalie problem. If Vehanen let's in less than 4 goals, play him in the quarter finals, otherwise go with Rinne who's been very good too.

But Osala is still in the roster because of the injuries. So, Santala can be benched after first couple of shifts and Osala can replace him... problem solved.

Yeah like Jalonen would do that... I really don't have that much faith in Jukka. The game will be over (Russia leading like 4-0) before Jalonen will make any change.

Agreed, altho i still don't see him making any changes ... Santala wins one faceoff and he is gonna play til the end of the freaking tourney ...

Jalonen should've changed the defensive pairs entirely now that Nummelin and Kukkonen aren't playing. And I think all these three pairs could play PP as well.

Vatanen-Puistola
Jaakola-Niskala
Hietanen-Mäenpää

And even if I don't like Santala so much in international tournaments, I must say that his playing style is probably more suitable against Russia than Osala's.

By the way can anyone tell me what kind of injurie Petteri Nummelin has and if he is only out for the game this evening or also for the quarterfinal?

Because if he can't play quarterfinal it will be very hard for the Finns to reach the semi-final.

Jalonen said he could play today if absolutely necessary.. he looked like he was in a bit of pain at the end of the last game and I think he was icing his knee/thigh area

It's going to be narrow win for Finland or total Russian domination.

In this case, I think it's better Petteri Nummelin reposes. Finland needs him more in the quarterfinal as this game is much more important than the game against Russia this evening.

What a joke, we will get crushed. Juuso Hietanen?

Our D is a joke, and now Jukka "brains" Jalonen takes Osala out of the lineup?

I predict something like 5-1 Russia final. Hello Canada in the quarters!

5-2 Russia, talk about STACKED!

Their top six is insane.

Other than Federov i think the other five could be the starting five on a world team in the short-lived format of the NHL All-Star Game.
