2010 NHL Draft Guides (ISS, McKeen's, RLR, The Hockey News, FC)...Info - 1st post

Last year, I purchased McKeen's, THN & ISS. McKeen's was by far and away the best, IMO. I'm personally hoping they continue to release a printed version, as I much rather that to electronic.

Will post more info when it becomes available.

International Scouting Services - Printed and Electronic Versions available. $50 CDN (Available May 25th, 2010)

McKeen's - Printed Version $30 CDN, $30 USD, $35 International (Available June 2nd, 2010)

Red Line Report - Printed Version $45.00 USD (Available June 3rd, 2010)

The Hockey News - Printed and Electronic Versions available. $5.99 (Mailed to subscribers May 5th...Available May 17th, 2010)

Future Considerations - Electronic Version $16.79 USD; Printed Version $27.81 USD (Available May 2010)

I'm a little surprised McKeen's hasn't had any information out quite yet. But yes, they do tend to produce some really nice published work as you alluded too.

I'll be very disappointed if they stop releasing the guide. If anyone has any info please let us know.

I wish these guides weren't so damn expensive. I'm a prospect/draft junkie so I'll definitely shell out the cash..I just wish I could afford to purchase them all.

ISS and RLR are usually around $50 respectively. McKeen's last year was $40 and I'd imagine it'll be at least that again this year.

And I noticed FC's digital edition is only $16.79, but the printed version is $35.68 this year. Is it really $20 extra just to get it a copy shipped? Is it a mistake?

I was a huge fan of the digital copy of Future Considerations last year. Good pickup for the budding draft junkie on a budget: not as much fluff as your typical THN but not as in depth as McKeen's or ISS either.

From the ones I read last year (THN, McKeen's, ISS & FC) McKeen's was by far the most informative.

I know the content is more important than the look, but I really wish they'd clean up their guides a little bit. It looks more like a high school project then a draft guide.

Looks like McKeen's have finally released their winter rankings. So, for anyone that subscribes to their site: Was there any mention of the draft guide in the article?

Their winter rankings were only for the top 30. The 2009 Draft Guide was released in mid-May of last year, so I'd guess this year's will be around the same time.

I know..but I figure they would have at least announced some details already, such as price and availability.

The 2009 Draft Guide was announced fairly early last year, if I remember correctly.

Mckeens Top 10 is on line
1. Taylor Hall (pictured), 2. Tyler Seguin, 3. Cam Fowler, 4. Brandon Gormley, 5. Erik Gudbranson, 6. Brett Connolly, 7. Kirill Kabanov, 8. Mark Pysyk, 9. Mikael Granlund and 10. Nino Niederreiter.

But unfortunatly, we have to pay to access to the entire TOP 30

Still no mention of their draft guide. I'm really hoping we get some info soon.

I like Mckeens 7 day free trial. If you sign up, you stll cant access the majority of the site. You can access the same stuff as when you arent logged in. So whats the point???? You need to check out the entire site under a 'normal' trial period in order to consider paying anything. You have to upgrade and pay and its not cheap to see the entire site. Thumbs down.

I bought McKeens, RLR, and Future Considerations last year and probably will do so again.

I bought ISS the previous year, but they didn't ship my printed guide order. When I called up (it took a lot of calls to reach them), they sent me the electronic version and a promise to sned me a free copy of future stars. Never got the future stars. Never got my money back. Want to buy their guide but...

Looks like McKeen's won't be releasing a draft guide this year.

I don't use my twitter much, but I logged in and noticed that mckeens hockey responded to my tweet back in January.

Me: Are you guys planning on releasing a Draft Guide for 2010? Last years guide was fantastic.

Them: it doesn't appear so. We do appreciate the kind words.

I wonder why they won't put one out this year, if McKeens is so good, and is very popular, doesn't make sense.

Why do you prefer/think McKeen's is better than ISS?

I just thought McKeen's was by far and away the best on the market last year. It looked very professional and had the most in-depth write-ups on the prospects eligible.

While ISS is very trusted and well-known, their write-ups aren't really that deep and their draft guides look like a high school english project.

Could you perhaps put up screenshots comparing the 2?

THN is really the only one I care about... But considering I have a LOT more money now than I did last year I'll probably pick up a few more.

Same thing happened to me, I ordered the printed guide and never got a copy.

Future Considerations last year was pretty good I thought.

Red Line historically gets mailed on June 6th each year- I've gotten NLT 10th of June every year since 1999. List price in the Feb. issue is $40 if you want to update the 1st post.

I still don't understand why Future Considerations is charging $20 more for their printed edition, compared to the digital version.

Not to sound harsh, but for the $40 range I'll go with ISS or RLR way before FC..

Sucks that McKeen's likely isn't releasing one this year.

As far as I know they are. In talking with their head of scouting David Burstyn, it seemed like they were releasing one.

I hope you're right then.

I contacted them through the official McKeen's twitter page and got a response back saying that it didn't appear they were releasing one this year.
