No, Czechs love hockey just as much, I don't care what people say, having lived there...we go crazy. The town square shuts down and most of the countries gathers there to watch the games on a huge screen. I think as far as international level, they love their hockey. Footbal/well soccer, is something they enjoy playing and is big on a local level.

I was checking what the russian media wrote about the loss and I just came accross this article on pravda.ru, the russian online news paper. surpringly there's very little about yesterday's loss, however they still had an article about the win vs. Canada. It's actually shocking that such a large newspaper would dare publish a utterly biased and insulting article.

read for yourselves:

It's a yellow paper, what do you expect? But I guess some people still think Pravda is a legitimate news source.

By "yellow paper" do you mean like a tabloid?

No excuses. I was quite worried seeing some of the russian players exhausted and tired in the end of the first period.

I just looked it up on wikipedia:

Pravda was a leading newspaper of the Soviet Union and an official organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party between 1912 and 1991.

After the paper was closed down in 1991 by decree of then-President Boris Yeltsin, many of the staff founded a new paper with the same name, which is now a tabloid-style Russian news source. There is an unaffiliated Internet-based newspaper, Pravda Online

What's funny is the author isn't even Russian, he's this guy from Britain. Go figure.

How in the world did the Russian lose to that Czech team?

It doesn't look like a GREAT team.

Did the Russian ("A") team just lose to like, Czech's "C" team?

Far as I can tell, Vokoun and Klepis and Rolinek and Jágr played out of their minds. Rachunek too.

Is it just me or was there no handshake at the end of that game? I didn't see one.

A few russian players wanted to leave the ice without handshake, but they came back.
