personally i think they "rested" the wrong guy. semin hasn't looked good, but when federov and ovechkin look like they're injured, tired, or whatever, he's not one who's gonna take over the line.

Ovechkin plays NHL regular season hockey which doesn't work at this level.

Yes but it's Semin's responsibility to stay the **** out of Ovechkin's way, at all times

Well, it looks like the best in the world Russia is going to lose to the "almost worst in the tournament" - Jagr. Not surprising, they almost lost to Germany for not a few bad bounces, and got slapped around a bit by team of under 20 year olds who never saw a Mens tournament in their life, Canada's C team.

Yeah that's true. Czechs have always been known for their amazing defence. In other words, go Russia! go Russia! Go home Russia!

Just saw replay of Fedorov collision, Fedorov was slewfooted by a czech player, he lost the view of the puck - should have been 2 minutes I think.

Am I the only one who thinks Ovechkin hasn't been that bad? He hasn't been great but I don't think he's been as bad as some are saying on here
He broke up a two on one
Threw two big hits
Had a couple good chances
been going to the net hard

I really think they should try him on a different line though
Semins been bad and Feds simply isn't that dangerous anymore
him datsyuk and malkin would look good

Ahh when I remember that Czechs were only 15 seconds away from losing the semi-final... This is a great tournament for the fans probably- great emotions.

Did Jagr say that? That isn't the best Czech team, but it's not the worst either. But what surprises me most is their ability to squeeze to finals stubbornly. Not the first time the Czechs manage to fool everyone. Now many Czech NHL players, that didn't show up, will probably regret their choices.

The Russians can still make it though.

Russia is overrated. The collision between Ovi and Fedorov is probably the best thing I've seen of that nature since the 3 Canadians took eachother out in Vancouver. Would love to see the Czech take this just to prevent the Russians from further stat padding their IIHF ranking with this B-tournament year after year.

maybe not having them was a blessing in disguise. you get guys who want that chance and are willing to work for it.

I gotta hand it to the Czechs. When they play this clever, you know the opposing team will have a very hard time coming back. A win would mean alot for czech hockey. Nice work.

Russians struggled two games against Germany. This is a better version of Germany they're playing. Tight center ice, not giving any space at all but is taking advantage of their chances.

Did you say "C" team?

They have several teams, we can barely scramble a team...

Nobody's overrated, it's just that doing the best does not always mean being the best. Russia had a superb tournament, looking better and better with each game. As Greg House once said, you can't always get what you want.

Feel for the Russians, reminds me of those Fin - Cze finals. They are absolutely pain to play against, very solid defencively and perhaps best counter attack team ever. And sneaky too, notice how now and then Russians fall behind the play from little trips.
