To Toronto:
43rd overall (Chicago)
50th overall (Florida)
Dustin Byfuglien

To Chicago:
Tomas Kaberle
Viktor Stalberg

To Florida:
Brian Campbell

Toronto gets two decent picks and another gritty winger for Tomas Kaberle. More or less what they would be asking for in exchange for Kaberle (two second rounders sub in as a first).

Chicago gets what is essentially one Brian Campbell for another, obviously the salary/contract dump is a big part of it. They also get a bit of a project forward, though an extremely fast and well-sized skater who has potential to be a surprise next year (Stalberg actually started to score near the end of the season, also lead the pre-season in goals).

Florida gives up a late second round pick for Dale Tallon's one true love, Brian Campbell.

Actually think this deal is surprisingly solid but I think Chicago may be overpaying. Your thoughts?

I don't want to give up on Stalberg, to be honest.

Don't like it as Toronto. Byfuglien is a very useful player on a team that can surround him with offensive talent. When he only has to be the guy crashing the net he's very effective. On Toronto he'd be expected to be one of the go-to guys on offensive and I really don't think he's capable of that.

That and I rather like Stalberg and we're going to see a pretty decent year from him next year.

Also, I don't think Chicago does this...

This. We need to give our players more time to prove themselves. I wouldn't be willing to trade a player away with that much speed this early.

TOR and CHI do it; FLA doesn't. For Florida to do this, Olesz (and maybe Reinprect) would have to be going the other way. Maybe something along the lines of....

To TOR:
F Dustin Byfuglien
F Rostislav Olesz
43rd Overall (Chicago)
92nd Overall (Florida via Toronto)

To CHI:
D Tomas Kaberle
F Viktor Stalberg

To FLA:
D Brian Campbell

Florida needs to send a salary dump & it would have to go to Toronto. This is just a terrible deal for the Buds. Why the hell do you want a couple 2nd round picks for one of the worst team in the leagues best players? You want to give Boston 1st overall next year?

Florida cannot afford that Campbell contract. And I'm not talking about cap space. They can't afford it.

Soupy has negative value with his contract...what makes you think Florida would give up a 2nd to take on a bad contract?

This trade is a wet dream for Stan Bowman.

As bad as it is for Leaf fans to ask for the moon for Kaberle, it's equally as bad for anyone to think they can get him for two okay picks and a salary dump.

For the love of God, Washington offered Flash/Ferh and Alzner for Kaberle yet some people think he'll only get traded for scraps? Get real.

Yeah, ALL they get is Brian Campbell and NOT his 7+mil, six year contract. Right?

Florida might like Campbell, but they would not pay that contract.

it would be cool to get him for just a 2nd, but we would have to trade away a lot of salary before that would even be possible..

Not the type of return that Burke would trade Kaberle for. Buff is a useful player but far from solving our problems. Plus we give up Stalberg..

Can we stop with the Campbell to Florida rumors? Just because Tallon signed him, doesnt mean he will trade for him. Im sure he knows the signing was a mistake, and instead of him trading for that mistake, he will learn from it. Get over it, its not happening.

This.
I prefer Stalberg @850 over Byfuglien @3m.
Our main problem over the last few seasons has been poor cap management. I like Buff, but I think we could spend that 3m more wisely.
Stalberg will be given at least a full season in the NHL so see what he can do.....He has shown some flashes, and some believe he has a lot of untapped potential....He has blazing speed at 6'3 and has shown the ability to pick corners and score goals in bunches, even killed some penaltys last year.....IMO has the potential to be a 25-30 goal second liner. He's got a long way to go, but with how thin our forward lines are looking next season, he will definitely get lots of ice time next season.

You guys can keep Campbell and we'll keep Stalberg. I doubt Florida would want Campbell anyways since there's Paul Martin.

I guess that's the point he was trying to make.
