I was traveling on Notre-Dame not long ago, and don't really remember going the speed limit of 50-60km/h. According to that PDF, they have "Radar photo mobile" on that road. I'm scared as hell now, should I be expecting a ticket in the mail? Does anyone know more about these radars? At what speed do they ticket you? Where are they placed exactly?
Well first off, the radar can't shoot all the cars passing at once, so if there were other cars next to you, it can only shoot one car at a time. Second, The radar is usually not on at all times, don't know the precise hours or time frames, but they are not on 24/7. If all this fails ,and you get a ticket in the mail. Its ONLY a ticket, pay it and its over. Nothing to be "scared" of
I am all for photo radar, I am for city cam everywhere to catch wrong doers, I am all for cams in churches just in case, I am all for cams in stores to catch robbers, I am for cams in ALL offices of white collar Bank execs and stock traders, Ins sales departments and for sure I want a ton of cams in claim dept refusal centers.
On notre-dame the radar will caught you at 61km/h. U are not going to loose any points and your insurance won't go up......it will only cost you money. I got caugh once at 123km/h on notre-dame but it's was during the time when they were testing the photo radar so it's cost me nothing

I don't like speeding ...but It was my first day with my new car and I wanted to see how fast it's accelarating.I didn't drive at 123km the hole notre-dame....It went so fast to 123 kph i didn't even realised And got caught at the peak of my acceleration.
Just about everywhere I've ever seen a camera there are plenty of green warning signs on the approaches.
Honestly, if you're not paying attention to the road signage you're probably one of those drivers that veers into my lane without checking his blind spot and almost causing an accident.
I might point out that in London they have had cams installed at nearly all street intersections and public places and crime is way way down
I agree they should have cams in every public place. Sometimes I wonder whether the Quebec government is slow on putting cams on every intersection because they would lose a huge revenue from all those tickets they hand out? I think they should have them in metros, buses, on every street, stores, bars, schools, you name it, except maybe your toilet, bedroom, and in your own brain. Deaths and the crime rate would go down immediately after you install these devices or until people have been conditioned not to want to go to jail or pay a weeks salary for an infraction. Of course this won't prevent people with a lot of money to break the law or people in disguise.
I thought they just implemented a new 40km speed limit in Montreal. That would mean the guy above who mentioned going 125km on Notre Dame would have his license revoked for at least 7 days and have his car towed; not to mention getting a huge fine, probably a $500 ticket.
