It would be a huge upset if Russia does not win this game.

Mismatch! Only one game though, anything can happen. Good thing we ***** slapped that team in the Olympics. You can have this one.

And...remember folks. Keep discussion civil. Emotions might run high, but there will be zero tolerance for baiting, flaming, trolling, etc.

I would love for Canada to win, but I really don't think that they can pull it off with the roster that they have !

if russia doesn't win then they are officially the most over rated hockey nation on the planet, 14 (ish) olympians on their team, playing canada with 6 players 20 or younger, 13 in their first SR level tourney.

I will try to analyze how canada can try to beat this very good, experienced and prime russian team in short.
Oveckin, Fedorov, Semin line will be tried to be shut down by Brooks Laich, Steve Ott, Steve Downie, Beauchemin, Cumiskey line. A lot of grinders and physical but mixed with skill that can create problems.

Kovy, Datsyuk and Malkin line will be the line that flies, Mason Raymon, Steven Stamkos and Perry will counter speed for speed, skill for skill.

The last two lines and the most dangerous players like Afinogenov, Kozlov, Frolov and the rest will be paired up with Ray Whitney, Duchene, Tavares.

Maybe I'm wrong and they go line for line? If we had Doughty, things would be better to contain Ovechkin.

As much as it pains me, I don't see any way for Canada to take this one. A win would be just as shocking as the States going to the relegation round.

This will be the first dress rehearsal for Sochi. Russia has about 12-14 players that will figure to be on the next Olympic team, and Canada has 6-8 players that will likely be in the 2014 mix.

Canada didn't go to 10 straight WJC finals for nothing. That should be the biggest surprise to the Russians if they don't take this team seriously.

Forget about the names on the roster, Russia has looked anything but invincible and their defence is vulnerable. I expect a tight game, and if Mason has a great game I expect Canada to win.

My thoughts exactly. Canada's roster isn't bad, it's just very raw and Russia's is stacked.

Canada with the upset.

Seriously, Russia should win, but ive followed hockey long enough to never ever count out Canada.

I like your line matching, if Laich, Ott and Downie can be positive on the penalties and Mason plays a little better maybe an upset. Please apply for the coaching position next year.

I excpect Russia to hit double figures. Canada have the worst goalie in the tournament and the worst coach of the tournament plus the youngest team = automatic perseraiskaus as we say in Finland.

LOL what the hell does that mean? EDIT: Nevermind.

Anyway I think Canada has a shot, if all their young guys play like the stars that they're becoming. If Stamkos, Duchene, Tavares, Eberle, and E.Kane all have big games they can squeeze out a win.
