So which NHL-players will join the team? According to Aftonbladet, Öhlund, Huselius and Strålman has turned down the offer. I don't think Samuel Påhlsson or Henrik Lundqvist (if NYR misses Stanley Cup) will join the team either.

These have supposedly accepted the invitation:

G Jonas Gustavsson

D Nicklas Grossman
D Calle Gunnarsson
D Victor Hedman

L Viktor Stålberg
C Rickard Wallin

Gustavsson, Grossman, and Hedman are nice additions but I am unsure wether Gunnarsson, Ståhlberg and Wallin are good enough.

I am hoping these will join the team
D Johnny Oduya Atlanta
D Tobias Enström Atlanta

C Alexander Steen St. Louis
L Loui Eriksson Dallas
R Nicklas Bergfors Atlanta

There are not many players in the playoffs that could/would possibly come along. Hawks/Wings/Canucks players all likely to 2nd round and if not most would probably say no anyways except maybe Ericsson and Hjalmarsson. In the east maybe Karlsson, but then again we already got a bunch of defencemen coming to "camp" and I'm not even sure those players would get a call.

I just don't think many players are keen to play another tournament with BÅG..

Oduya and Enström declines invitation, Bergfors has to fight for a sport during LG Hockey Games:

http://svt.se/2.19785/1.1961216/oduy...rubrik_1961216

EDIT:
Article has been updated stating that the reason for Enström and Oduyas decline are "minor injuries". The article also confirms that Öhlund and Påhlsson has declined invitations and that Gustavsson, Gunnarsson and Wallin has accepted invitations.

Expressen has posted a list of the status of all available players:

http://hockey.expressen.se/Nyheter/1...ronor-infor-vm

Declining invitations:
Mattias Öhlund, D
Is feeling worn out after a long season.

Samuel Påhlsson, F
Wants to spend time with his family.

Kristian Huslius, F
Declined, but no motivation given.

Anton Stålman, D
Very disappointed at being snub for the Olympics. Declined, but no reason given

Unclear
Loui Eriksson, F
Henrik Lundqvist, G

Accepted invitations:
Victor Hedman, D
Rickard Wallin, F
Jonas Gustavsson, G
Nicklas Bergfors, F (Try-out during LG Hockey Games)

Likley snubs:

Fredrik Sjöström, F
Robert Nilsson, F
Patrik Berglund, F
Mikael Backlund, F
Viktor Ståhlberg, F

Snubbed:
Johan Hedberg, G

In a seperate article (http://hockey.expressen.se/Nyheter/1...nobbar-vm-spel) Bengt-Åke says that he will invite some NHLers for try-outs during LG Hockey Games. Ståhlberg also says that he has not yet heard from BÅG and that he doesn't think he will be considered for the Worlds.

I'm guessing that (besides Bergfors) Berglund, Backlund, and Ståhlberg are likely candidates for try-ouys.

I have not seen any talk about Alexander Steen. What I know he have played realy good with Blues, I realy hopes that BÅG gives the guy a shoot! I realy wanted to see Stålberg too but but not BÅG... Woud like to se Sjöström inte the fourth line too.

Yes, it is strange that nothing has been mentioned about Steen anywhere. Expressen even missed him in thier big summary today. Steen had a career year in both goals and points this season. He and Loui are the players I am hoping for the most.

Expressen is now reporting that Sjöström has declined an invitation due to shoulder surgery: http://hockey.expressen.se/Nyheter/1...ka-nej-till-vm

Wow, what kind of argument is that, "has played on small ice for too long"? There has to be another reason why Hedberg wasn't invited, right?

I suspect that Hedberg and BÅG don't like each other very much. I know that Hedberg was furious at being snubbed for the 2006 Olympics and vowed never to play for the national team. He has since changed his mind, but Bengt-Åke has not selected him.

Aftonbladet is reporting that Lundqvist might join the team after all: http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportblade...icle6956716.ab

Lundqvist is having problem with both a knee and a hip injury, but will perform rehab training for 4-5 days before giving BÅG his final decision.

Expressen has a an interview with Strålman explaining the reason for him declining the invitation: http://hockey.expressen.se/nhl/1.195...ar-nej-till-vm

Apparently Strålman has been having problem with the salt and vitamin levels in his body and thus lost a lot of weight.

Lundqvist is a true warrior, he loves to play for Tre Kronor despite minor injuries that 90% of the players would choose to heal.

Lundqvist now confirms he will miss the WC. His knee hasn't improved despite a week of rehab training:

What has happened to Grossman? I mean in the article in the original post he said he would accept an invite if given, but I haven't heard anything regarding him later and he is not on the latest camp roster. Has he not been given an invite?

I'm also wondering about Steen, not a word about him. Surely he must have gotten an invite? Not even Bengt-Åke would do something so strange as to decline Steen!

Haven't heard anything regarding Robert Nilsson, Patrik Berglund, or Tom Wandell either. I guess they will not be given an invite?

Tom Wandell was/has been injured for a while and missed the last 30 games or so of the season. I don't even know if he is healthy now. The rest I suppose are not even invited, maybe not that strange. Berglund openly critizised his play time last year and was mediocre at best and Nilsson is just meh, I'd rather give a top6 role to a junior like MPS.

I agree, I the only NHLers not in the camp roster that would improve the team is Steen and possibly Grossman.

Regarding Grossman, it seems it is his contract situation the causes him to hesitate:

"Grossman was also offered a spot on Sweden’s roster but first had to sort out whether or not he would still be covered by his expiring contract. He will become a restricted free agent this summer, and noted he had to address that issue before accepting.

“They asked me, I’m not sure yet,” said the third-year blueliner, who recorded one assist in nine games last year. “I’ve got to straighten some things out contract-wise. But I would love to play. It’s an honor to go and play for the national team.”"
