Per Ottawa Sun, Blue Jackets Could Be Possible Destination For Spezza

The Sun was listing a couple teams that Spezza may be moved to and all seem unrealistic except for this intresting one. Garroich speculates Brassard and Columbus 1st round pick for Spezza.

Thoughts

To Be fair Bruce overall doesn't think he will be traded

Do you think Ottawa would want to trade Spezza?

No... didn't think so, so sit down and shut up.

They might, I don't think management thinks he is a Stanley Cup Winning First Line Center

Uhhh I really hope not. That's a horrible deal.

If he does end up getting traded, good luck finding a replacement Murray.

After fleecing Ottawa outta Vermette, I doubt Murray wants to deal with CBJ again giving them the obvious better deal.
Brassard coming off a poor year n about to step into a new rich contract, is a prime candidate for trade for number 1 centre.
Spezza would give the Jackets a ligimate first line centre to feed n feed off Nash.
N the first may not be a contributing member for possibly 2 years.

CBJ runs away laughing n giggling n showing Burke up after his fleece with Calgary

I think it's Garrioch who wants Spezza traded. Apparently Spezza grabbed a sandwich Bruce was eyeing one day, and he's hated him ever since.

I don't think this deal is about the trade. I think Ottawa would like to free up cap space to bring in a solid dmen and resign cullen and maybe another top 6 forward. Then we would have two top 16 draft picks and two legitimate prospects. Instead of brassard i'd prefer to have filitov or maybe a 2nd round draft pick plus brassard. This trade would make sense for the sens and for the blue jackets. it might not help ottawa now but it will later on.

Trading Spezza makes no sense for the sens, especially when the 4th overall is projected to be a defenceman.

This is worse than the time a Toronto Star columnist suggested Burke could trade Schenn + Grabovski for Ryan and acquire Sharp for nothing.

Its pretty amazing that so many Ottawa fans want him traded when he has such a good 2nd half on the season and even though he didn't have his best post season, he still put up over a point per game. I was at game 3 against the Penguins and there was a guy two rows behind me that started booing Spezza and yelling for him to get off the ice when he dumped the puck in instead of trying to go past 3 d all by himself. After that it just want downhill with more unintelligent fans screaming at him and booing for dumping it in or taking a shot on net when there was no play available. Just unbelievable.

see yzerman, steve.

spezza is one of the best centers in the league. He will mature, he will become more responsible, just be patient. Trading him at his lowest value is retarded.

At least now we know where the "willingness" of Columbus to offer Brassard and the 4th overall pick for a #1 defenseman came from.

You'd think that a guy who works in the capital city of the most hockey-loving nation on earth would have a little more sense about the game...

This is probably one of the poorest written articles I've ever read.

-We face the inevitable doom of keeping our #1 Center locked up for many years
-Not a whole lot of talk about trading Spezza (must be a secret)
-Not a market for Spezza unless we want to get ripped off
-Murray doesn't want to trade Spezza
-McClean says we shouldn't trade Spezza
-Just incase we are trading Spezza, here are some possible destinations

What is Bruce really trying to tell us? Perhaps he doesn't like this Spezza guy so much?

Depends on if Ottawa is blowing up the team and rebuilding. But Spezza is young and who's going to you use money anyways?

They got screwed over in the Heatley deal.

Brassard + 4th overall is actually a pretty good "value" for the trade, but I don't know if Ottawa wants to wait 3-4 years for that 4th overall to develop into an NHL (if he even does).

Well with the cap in mind and Columbus' lack of interest in spending lots of money, let's be realistic here

Brassard
4th overall/ 2010 2nd + 2011 2nd + 2011 1st
Voracek/Filatov
Commodore/Klesla

I think we can agree that the price would fall somewhere in there. I think 4th overall, Voracek/Filatov, Brassard and Commodore would be a fair deal.

Ottawa spends a bit more on slightly injury prone Commodore than they would on soon to be UFA Volchenkov. (Who just sold his home in Ottawa and is rumored to be headed to Washington.) Will be respectable at center with Fisher and Brassard, have a great top-6 option of Filatov or Voracek and then they get a shot at a good d-man in the draft.

Rick Nash gets an incredibly skilled center to play with him for a very long time.

I don't think people do agree on that.

Columbus isn't going to give up Brassard AND Voracek AND the 4th overall.

Only 2 of those 3.

This needs to be nipped in the bud. Garrioch has been pushing this agenda from the day the Sens were eliminated. He has had absolutely nothing substantive, rather building on "rumours" that he proposed.

We would also have to throw back a top 6 like Foligno.

I would never want to trade Spezza. He is just hitting his true potential but if ANYTHING goes wrong i agree completely with this post.

Filatov
Brassard
El Nino
Klesla
2nd rounder in 2010

Sounds like fair value. Notice i picked El Nino. I traded down for a future Alfredsson replacement and would pick up a second rounder. Or you could pick Johansen to replace Spezza.

Bottom line. Spezza is not leaving lol. If he does than yea thats what i want.

We would also have to give them a top 6 i would think like Foligno?

Spezza is coming off a bad year and is just about to hit the prime of his career. He has been one of the most productive players since the lockout year. He isn't the best in his own end but true francise centers are hard to come by.

I wonder if San Jose may make room to resign Marleau maybe Thorton to the BJ's is more realistic.

it won't be 2 of them if 1 is Voracek. Many Columbus fans feel that within 2 years, he will be putting up better #'s than Nash.
