Nabby

Where do you guys think he'll sign, and what will the contract look like?

Chicago doesn't need a goalie anymore, Philly very well may not need one, it's debatable in Washington but unlikely. Anyways, none of those three could afford him.

Ottawa could use him but again, they have cap issues as well. Who knows, Columbus could kick the tires, Tampa, Atlanta, who knows.

What do you think?

3 years 21 million should be Atlanta's offer.

Nabokov turns 35 after July 1st, so I wonder if he'll get a longer deal than most of us would anticipate. Ie, a 5 year deal with a relatively lower average cap hit that's frontloaded.

I thinking something like 4 yr/24m deal front loaded in case his production tanks in the latter years.

Holy moley, some hugely generous offers here for him. No way I go that high for him. I might consider a large dollar amount on a very short term deal but no long term deals.

At 34 (35 when the 10-11 season starts), after what happened with Khabibulin in Edmonton this year, I think he'll get a one or two year deal.

Honestly, though, I think he'll return to San Jose. He was hardly the reason they lost the Chicago series, so I don't see any reason for them to make the change.

He doesnt go to Tampa, we have Tokarski who is thought of as the goalie of the future and really has shown us no reason to doubt that. So until Tik is either ready, or Janus or they falter we will just be looking for a 1/2 year(s) stop gap goalie. Biron??

Agreed, I just really don't see anywhere he could go where he is the clear cut guy. You mean to tell me San Jose's goal tending would be better without him? Sure they could sign a UFA, but Nabby is still solid and better than the other UFA's. Only way San Jose lets him walk IMO, is if they rebuild and move other assets as well.

Cap wise it boils down to Marleau or Nabokov and I think Marleau wins out.

I would like to see Kosechkin if we can get him out of Russia, rather than any FA goalie. I want to see a 6' 7" butterfly goalie.

If the Sharks were willing to offer them really really long deals, they could conceivably get both guys at lower cap hits than they had this season. Although that also is on the assumption that Marleau and Nabokov want to sign extra long deals, which might not be the case.

Doug Wilson has already said he isn't in favor of doing those type of deals.

Nabokov doesn't really have leverage. 1 year, $5 million from Atlanta.

Panthers may look to move Vokoun since he's in his walk year and Markstrom may be ready for 2011. This option scares my SJ buddies, but they could try to get Turco for a year. The level of goaltending as a whole has improved greatly in the last ten years, so perhaps they can find their own version of Niemi, Leighton, etc. Doesn't necessarily have to be a familiar name in order to be effective.

If San Jose gets Vokoun i think they'd win the cup next year. Depends on who they give up though...
