"Ole" chant

Discuss. Awesome that the fans busted it out tonight to mock Habs fans? Or just totally lame?

As a Habs fan, I thought it was funny

It's good ol' playoff teasing, nothing wrong with that

I like it to taunt the other team when our boys are up, but as a chant, stick to soccer there Jose.

That chant, which comes from SOCCER by the way, is quite perplexing as to why it is sung at a hockey game here in MTL (p.s i'm a montrealer who despise the habs). Thank you flyers fans for making a mockery of that ridiculous chant.

You will see a lot of Blackhawks flags and jerseys in Montreal next week

FWIW, we have been chanting it all series... and some of us even did during the regular season wins over the Habs.

It is something that is to expected amongst fans, and no insult intended. The visiting fans -- who I admire greatly, BTW, for their loyalty... as I hope people feel about me when I travel -- and the viewing fans in Montreal have to be boiling when they hear it... But after all, they did have that one game to chant, 'Leigh-ton, Leigh-ton'. It's all good.

Just a heads up, as it sound like you're unaware...the ole chant was done frequently throughout games 1 and 2 of the series as well. There was also a lot of discussion about it at the time, which can be found in the thread below and others...

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=777044

Personally, I loved it, and have a hard time understanding how any non-Canadiens fan could not have loved it(hell, seems a good amount of Habs fans found it funny too).

I'd like to think Flyers fans understand that this was strictly for mocking purposes, and that it won't become a normal chant at games. The chant sucks, that's why we made fun of it. It's over and done with... until our next playoff series with Montreal. I have to imagine they're starting to hate us quite a bit.

Would be dumb of Hawks fans to use an Ole chant to make fun of us. Would show that they're pretty unknowledgable if they did that, to be honest.

It's fine against the Habs. It's stupid and Montreal is stupid for doing it and they deserve to be ridiculed and laughed at for doing it. I trust it won't stick around, though.

It's like the Tomahawk Chop when the Braves visit the Bank. When a team adopts a thing like that they have to understand that it is fodder for pay-backs.

In the heat of battle fans go at it tooth and nail, but I personally find it hard to dislike the Habs faithful... I have to respect the opposing fans who are not much different than I am. All I ask is that are respectful and not mean spirited. During the season that the Flyers were dead last I felt good about the opposing fans that told us that the Flyers would be a good team and to hang in there... but I detested those who kicked us while we were down and did it in a non-respectful manner. As long as it is not personal, I'm fine with the give and take.

I think the Blackhawks' goal song they play is too fast to sing, unfortunately, because that would also get sung.

I hated it when they do it in the 2nd with a 2 goal lead. Its still a game at that point. Oles should have only been done when the game is out of reach, which game 5 wasnt till the empty netter.

Yeah, I'm a little worried since I heard it during the handshake line. It's over then, Habs are out, back to Flyers chants guys.

I like the Blackhawks song in NHL10.

Not a fan of the Hawks goal song though.

Funny for the past series but I don't want to hear it again.

Anyone who watches soccer or boxing is sick and tired of that chant.

This is my biggest fear.

I am counting on everybody here that may be at the game to inform the morons that are sure to sit near you that we DO NOT do this chant!

I do very much agree with this...it was definitely done too early last night.

And I also hate that ****ing Blackhawks goal song. I think it's mostly because it's been jammed in my face for years on beer commercials. That's all it makes me think of...a lameass beer commercial. They should've found something more original that wasn't already getting heavy exposure elsewhere. Man, I'd ****ing hate it if the Flyers goal song was music from crappy beer commercials. It also gets stuck in your head and is much more annoying as a result.

I thought it was funny as hell. However, am I the only one who thought it was a tad classless for some to be chanting it once the game was over and during the handshake?

For me, at that point, we won, and it should be time to just cheer your team, not mock the people you have now defeated....
