alot of good players were drafted late. Dustin Byfuglien was an 8th round pick, Zetterberg, etc.

having said that, at least the rangers dealt the 6th round draft pick for an 19 year old rather than a 25-27 year old AHL vet.

at least Niemi has some type of future and just finished juniors. this deal has nothing but upside. at worst rangers got a depth dman like a Joel Bouchard incase of injuries down the road.

Not as many late picks are going to turn out to be Zetterbergs or Lundqvists, largely because Europe is much better scouted by the NHL now than it ever has been.

That said, and enigma kid with untapped potential out of Russia or Sweden appears to be the only picks in the 7th round worth taking.
