That's incorrect. His cap hit is his base salary, plus all bonuses included. That will be his cap hit until it's impossible that he can achieve his bonuses.

don't you think it's a little early to make that claim, I mean this season isn't even over yet.

Are entry level contracts accounted for similarly? Duchene's cap hit for the next two seasons according to capgeek is $3.2 million including bonuses. If he does not achieve those bonuses is his cap hit reduced?

Yes. Not that it actually matters for a team thats no where near the cap.

Meh. As long as his minutes are cut significantly, I guess I'm fine with it. But I also would have been happy if he would have hanged them up.

I guess I'm okay if he plays sparingly. As in like third paring minutes.

I think incentives can be counted towards the following seasons cap.. I will have to look at the CBA tomorrow.. way to tired to figure it out now

FWIW, considering he accepted this low of a deal, I would guess he would accept that role, too.

Can't really complain about it unless he has to log too many minutes.

great deal for the avs, hes getting paid like a 5th defenceman, which is pretty much the role he'll play, with probably a little too much penalty kill time than he should, but unless the avs go out and get a big d-man is one of the better options out there

Foote's deal is worth $1 million in base salary plus $250,000 in bonuses, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Like the signing myself. Was pretty sure it was bound to happen. The term is good and took a pay cut. Still a serviceable 3rd pairing guy.

Cap Geek is saying that his salary and cap hit are both $1 M, but that doesn't mean it's correct. Or maybe AD was wrong and the bonus was a signing bonus which is already factored into the cap number.

It honestly doesn't matter, I'm not paying him his salary and the avs have the cap space hell pay him 5 I like Foote.

You may be thinking of the bonus cushion, which is puts a certain restricted amount towards the following seasons cap number if they go over.

Well it doesn't matter cap wise, but it's nice to know the numbers for those of us keeping track of such things.

How many bad turnover did Foote had this year leading to goals? I hope they are just bringing him back not to play huge minutes but just mainly for leadership and 3rd pair minutes.

Great value for what he can still bring to the team. Looks like this will be Footer's last hoorah.

Excellent news. Keep him around, on and off the ice with the young D we're going to have. Hopefully they learn as much as they can from Foote off the ice. The guy takes a big pay-cut, so back off, this is a good deal.

I found part in CBA that I don't understand when I compare it with capgeek

With some exceptions, performance bonuses are paid by the league and do not count against a team's salary cap. But they do count in calculating the league-wide share of player revenue.

Why capgeek ad bonuses to Duchene cap if accordnig to CBA they do not count against team cap? These exceptions are for example last year of CBA agreement, then all bonuses counts against cap. The same story as with Duchene should be with Foote.

If Francois Giguere were still the GM, what would Foote's new contract have been?
