SJ/NSH (1st line/1st pair)

SJ: Weber, Suter

NSH: Dany Heatley,Patrick Marleau (UFA next year.), Joe Thornton

NSH needs offense, SJ needs D. Simple as that...

Feedback, who overpays, try to put aside all bias, it's the NHL's top offensive line for the NHL's top defensive pairing. Marleau is a UFA so his value is completely diminished to a 3rd/4th. Heatley+Thornton have good chemistry, and it would even out both teams IMO.

Nashville doesn't need offense exactly. They need a much better power play, yes, but being around the middle of the league in scoring is just fine.

More importantly, they have to continue to field a team built from the goaltender out. It fits the overall personnel and philosophy of the team/coaches.

Moving Weber and Suter would absolutely kill the Nashville blueline.

All that without even discussing the fact that Nashville's budget could not handle adding those three players.

Weber and Suter are our core players. so we get older and more expensive and change the total direction of the team. No thanks.

There should be a 24 hour waiting period for trade posts after a playoff loss...

What if we gave up Dan Boyle? That would help your PP.

Boyle+ for Weber?

Giving up Weber to get Boyle is not going to help our PP. Why would we give up a guy 7 years younger, who is bigger, nastier and has a bigger shot for Boyle? I like Boyle and think he's a wonderful player but come on.

One player isn't going to fix our power play woes. We've had them what seems like forever. Giving up Weber, one of our few consistent PP threats, to attain Boyle under the guise of aiding special teams would be irresponsible. No thank you on both proposals. Besides, Boyle would just get made at a relatively harmless play, slew foot someone, and take a suspension. Then I'd have to continue hating him regardless of the front of the jersey.
