Our biggest challenge will be Slovenia; it's the 1st game, which is very important, and anything coming from ex-Yougoslavia is good enough in my book

England is clearly the favorite, no question

U.S? They are pretty much like the current Algerian team; they can be awesome 1 night, and awful the next
Not sure how you can say that,USA has had some decent success since the 94 world cup making it every time and besides the last one in 2006 I think they came out of their group.I think the US is clearly favorite against Algeria.Anything can happen in 1 game, but I do think they are the stronger side.Good luck tho hope your country does well

5on3...you are way too optimistic.

Thats what you are brainwashed tp believe !

Why in hell would they ''cheat'' to prevent a lousy team like Algeria to don't go into the 2nd round, it's not like Algeria was a world cup favorite.

If Algeria really wanted to make it to the 2nd round and not rely on a (landslide)win by Germany they would have beat Austria in the first place.

Once again, you are showing your amateurism:

Quote:
Group 2 saw one of the great World Cup upsets on the first day with the 21 victory of Algeria over reigning European Champions West Germany. This famous result for the Algerians put the Germans in grave danger of failing to qualify for the next round. This led to many people believing that the final match in the group between West Germany and Austria was fixed, as Algeria had already played their final group game the day before, West Germany and Austria knew that a West German win by 1 or 2 goals would qualify them both, while a larger German victory would qualify Algeria over Austria, and a draw or an Austrian win would eliminate the Germans. The fourth team in the group, Chile, were eliminated regardless of the outcome. After 10 minutes of all-out attack, West Germany succeeded in scoring through a goal by Horst Hrubesch. After the goal was scored, the two German-speaking teams went into an unspoken agreement and just kicked the ball around aimlessly for the rest of the match. Chants of "Fuera, fuera" ("Out, out") were screamed by the appalled Spanish crowd, while angry Algerian supporters waved banknotes at the players. This performance was widely deplored, even by the German and Austrian fans who had hoped for a hot rematch of the 1978 FIFA World Cup match in which Austria had beaten West Germany. One German fan was so upset by his team's display that he burned his German flag in disgust.[1] Algeria protested to FIFA, who ruled that the result be allowed to stand, but events led to FIFA introducing a revised qualification system at subsequent World Cups in which the final two games in each group were played simultaneously.
And for the record, Michel Hidalgo, who was France's NT coach at the time, said we were one of the best teams
Even the great Pele was impressed with us

Again if they beat Austria , they were in !

You can talk about conspiration all you want, if you want to advance you never should rely on another team losing or winning.

This I totally agree with

Italy in the 2004 Euro had the same problem with the tie between Sweden and Denmark which kicked Italy out and both those countries went on to the next round, too bad for Italy but it was their fault they couldn't get the job done against Denmark and Sweden

No that's not what we're saying,if you didn't do well in your round robin games and are hoping for a result by another team to get you threw to the next round then you don't deserve to be there in the first place. You play well against a team but couldn't beat the other while waiting for a result(help) by another team to go to the next round, had you beat that other team you wouldn't have cared about that other game that you think Germany cheated.

We won 2 games out of 3; you call that not doing well?

And keep in mind that because of the German cheating, the last 2 games of each group are played at the same time

Because of that incindent.

So, if FIFA kept the same system, a lot of teams would still be depending on another result, don't you think ?

I agree and always said all 3 games of groups should be played at the same time not just the 3rd one,but you can always have the results from the other game so....

so it's a hit and miss; there is so much we can control

Anyway, just to go back to 2010, I'm not saying that the U.S suck; they are really good

I'm just saying that England is the only real favorite in group C.

After that, it's a toss up.

For sure England are the clear favorite,I personally think the US comes in at #2 with Slovenia at 3 and Algeria at 4

Slovenia will give the US a run for their money.Sorry but I don't think Algeria comes out of this group. But like I said it's 1 game and anything can happen so hope for you they do well, and if they don't then being there is already something to be proud of

Why is Slovenia so underrated? They had the best defense in all Europe during qualifications; allowing 4 goals in all 10 qualifying games (less than Spain, England, Italy, Germany, Portugal, etc) Only Holland allowed less goals (with 2) But played 2 less games due to their smaller qual. group. They also knocked out Russia. Not bad at all.

They are not well for the ones who follow international soccer, you're right I think they will give the Americans a run for their money but I still think the US will be 2nd.Slovenia could very well slip into 2nd but I don't think Algeria has a shot at coming out of this group
