His name, I believe, (after two years of German at McGill) translates to something like Nightclub Dancer. I like.

As of now, looks like a fine depth move. We'll see when we'll see him. Wonder if he's going to be at the June camp.

My one year of German at Mt.A says it would be closer to 'nightclubbing' (or one who does it) but either way...

In that case, its official then, he'll fit right in perfectly in Montreal. On another note, Halaks getting traded after this signing. Gauthiers bringing in familiar faces for Price.

I guess that it is only going to be AHL depth.
Probably a replacement for Benoit as a 30-35 point guy and a second PP unit dman

He was a third round pick but Anaheim didn't even bother giving him a contract after his NCAA years so I guess he is nothing special.

His point totals weren't that impressive before last year though.

Here's hoping this year was his coming out party

Another NCAA product. He played 1 year with McDonaugh in Wisconsin. I guess Timmins noticed him way back then.

EDIT: I like what I read on his bio from Hockey's future - http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospect/kyle_klubertanz

You have to be kidding me.

We sign a prospect know as a puck moving defenseman and you're thinking that the GM is dumb if he isn't a Norris trophy candidate back there?

He'll go to camp like everyone else, there's nothing to get worked up about in this signing. Best case, he surprises and makes the team. Likely case, he goes to Hamilton. Worst case, Cinci has a nice defender.

Point is we have no idea.

WTH?? Do the Habs only have one pro scout? Some fat dude in a trailer that parks outside high schools in Wisconsin and watches with binoculars.

This whole obsession with marginal American players is starting to get pretty weird.

Pretty good binoculars if he can see Sweden from Wisconsin

I seriously doubt it's just a coincidence that he played with Engqvist. This makes the transition that much smoother for both players. Timmins and co. have likely been following this player for a while. He's consistently been playing for teams that have other Habs prospects. And a 3rd round pick is not a long shot prospect. The guy obviously has skills. Hope he works out.

I know... I mean, really, we gave NOTHING up here. People need to calm down.

If we'd just traded our first round pick for him, I could see some of the angst here, but god, he's just a kid signed to a one year deal.

We gave up nothing, risked nothing. Who cares?

This.

I don't think that the team really matter if he makes the team or not (but they probably hope so). IMO, this is more to help Engqvist's transition next year.

I think they picked him up cuz Subban will be full time with the habs next season, and they will need mobile D in hamilton.

I dont think he'll get promoted well not this year anyways...
