When Real Madrid bought Beckham they went to court and some crazy judge declared Beckham as an artist. Therefore every player playing for a Spanish team had to play less income tax.

Btw you know about the role of the Russian President Medwedev in the KHL right?

Send a message via AIM to LAX attack*
2.5 I hope will get him signed. (Median of what him and Burke are after)

no way in hell Kulemin is worth anything near 3 million, PERIOD. He could be Grabbo part two!

He doesn't play like Grabbo at all. I know you mean like the contract but it's still a bad comparison.

2.0 - 3.0 is fair for Kulemin IMO.

If he doesn't sign, trade him to Boston for the 15th overall or to Pittsburg for their first + Goligoski.

Maybe he and Kaberle will be gone in draft day deals for another bonafide top 6 player?

This could get very interesting.

Good to see Burke very conscious of the cap though.

He didn't give Moore the purported 3 million he wanted(s?) and let him walk.

Now it looks like he isn't giving Kulemin more than he is worth.

Antropov, etc..

Good to see the guy not overpaying and thus possibly jeopardizing our flexibility in the future.

A forward looking GM, even in spite of the Kessel deal this guy is looking straight into the future...

Whatever, we won't lose him for nothing. I don't understand how the agent thinks he has that much leverage in negotiations, Kulemin didn't have THAT good a season. I can't see many teams lining up to throw an offersheet for more than 3 M.

Grabovski had a 20 goal & almost 50 point season to get his contract. There's no way a guy who has never hit the 20 goal mark or 40 points should get 3 million. Kulemin's a good, young player who is making progress but he is not worth 3 million at this point.

Anyways not good to hear about this. Was really hoping they could quickly get Kulemin signed. I have to agree that 3 is high. Hopefully this works out.

He should just go to the KHL and avoid the situation with the Leafs.

Although, I'd rather see him sign a 1 year contract at a reasonable rate and then decide whether he really wants to stay with the Leafs.

Desjardins estimates that about 40% of the game is captured by Corsi analysis.

Players get paid for things besides scoring.

Kulemin is excellent with and without the puck in both ends of the rink.

Grabovski can only do good things when he has the puck and half the time he does have it he still finds a way to piss you off.

Not good, but this guy WILL be worth the 3 million dollars + that he warrants. Burke is a proud man and won't be pushed around in any sort of negotiations. Russian insistence and Burke's unwielding stubborrness...hmmm

What site is that? Eklund? If so, you can dismiss it right now as illegitimate fearmongering.

Edit: Anyone know the deal with bleacher report?

He IS worth 3 mill, IMO, the guy was turning out to be sick towards the end of the year. If this is true, FML! I love Kulemin and would be PISSED to see him go. Is this a reliable site?

EDIT: He only had 36 points? Maybe he isn't worth that.. but he was improving big time at the end of the year

Threatening to go to the KHL? This sucks. It really does.

It's quite the jump from "contract talks at a standstill", to "likely leaving." Way to sensationalize.

Just Burke playing hardball trying to save as much $$ as he can. Nothing really to see here, the season still isn't even over yet.
