So you posted an article again that is being discussed in another thread and gave it a new and jazzy title. Great work.

Don't check what thread? You're posting in it right now. The other thread was just a plagiarized Toronto Sun article with a sensationalist title.

I made a thread on Kulemin a few weeks back and all the Brian Burke imposters on this forum gave me a hard time.

I knew there was a reason he was not signed yet.

he's worth $2.25m, but that hit on corey perry makes him entitled to .5 more, so $2.75m for 2 years.

Yes, the reason is that they are still negotiating.

Didn't Burke give Grabo 2.9 per year? Kulemin is a better hockey player.

Edit: Should have read the thread first I suppose. Nevermind that then, since the point has been made. Though I do think it is quite weird, and especially inconsistent, that Kulemin should suffer for the bad contract Burke gave Grabo. Points aside, Kulemin is the superior hockey player in every aspect.

Kulemin will be signed, he will not go to the KHL. All this is is negotiating tactics by both sides.

Everyone NEEDS to relize Kulemin finished strong in a contract year! This is not uncomin to happin... we shouldn't overpay ANYONE at this point in a re-build stage... if Kulie signs it will be between 2.5-2.9 over 3-4 and even this is an overpayment but that's what it will take imo.

Ponikarovsky, who was shelled constantly by us this season, still made less than what Nik was looking for even after proving he had consistent second liner production and five consecutive 20-goal seasons (well, one season w/ 19).

Kulie has to take a bridge contract offer for two or three years at least before he starts looking at big money. If not, have fun with -30 weather, twelve hour flights between games, and borscht.
I'm guessing Kolya likes his borscht.

Actually, he does not.

If we lose Kulemin, we take a very large step back in our development. But I don't think he's worth a penny over 2.75 for the next 2 yrs. Ideally 2.5.

They won't lose him for nothing so it's alright. If another team is stupid enough to throw and offer sheet at him for more than 3 M, good riddance Kuli. I love the guy as a player but he just isn't worth it right now.

losing your best young players is also what cripples a proper rebuild.

What's your solution if he refuses to sign a reasonable deal?

He's a good player for sure, but not one to throw a rediculous contract at.

My thoughts exactly, Kulemin is good but I'd be just as happy with an offer sheet.

$3mil isn't exactly ridiculous. it's not like the guy wants $5+mil or something...

in most of my lineup posts i have him making $2.75...and most others have him at about the same. is the $250k that crucial? give me a break...

sign him already Burke.

it's not all about points...it's about other things he brings to the game.

Byfuglien doesn't make $3mil because of the points he puts up...it's the other things he brings...and Kulemin is the same deal, only he has lots of potential to produce bigger numbers offensively because he's clearly skilled.

If the leafs lose Kulemin for something like 1m than I would call Burke a failure. The cap MAY go up 2 million, We can bury Jeff Finger, we can dump Grabovski somewhere, we can not pay old guys 1million a year and just use younger players at 500,000. The leafs are not in a position to lose good young players with his style of play.

FFS.

Burke will get it done. He's not a moron. I think if the salary is over 3 million, something like 3.5, it'll only be a one-year deal. But if it's under 3, I bet it's a 2-3 year deal.

I can see him getting a similar contract to Grabovski at this point.
