Carcillo & Bartulis in for Game 2.

Not sure if thread worthy.

Quote:
Dan Carcillo and Oskars Bartulis will rejoin the Flyers' lineup in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final Monday night.

To make room for their return, rookie James van Riemsdyk and Ryan Parent are healthy scratches.

I am alright with this move. I think JVR needs a break and if they are never going to play Parent, then might as well dress an actual 6th dman.

I think Parent shouldn't be back at least for now and I do think JVR at least needs a game off, and I'm sure Carcillo's knee is very well rested. Also, I did like it when Bartulis has played, he's usually been very steady, and he hasn't been given enough credit.

Also, if Powe doesn't do well this upcoming game, I'd say have Carcillo replace him for Game 3 and bring back JVR as well.

Nice move, JVR has been absent since queing that rally against Boston (and for a while before that) and if they are not comfortable using Parent might as well just scratch him.

JVR is going to be a great player, but we need some checking out of that line. It's not going to kill him to miss a game. I could see a rotation among a few guys sitting, including Asham, Powe and Lappy. We need to win, not worry about hurt feelings.

Reunite Carcillo with Richards/Gagne and put Carter between Asham and Giroux:

Gagne-Richards-Carcillo
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
Asham-Carter-Giroux
Powe-Betts-Lappy

Other alternative is put Powe in JVR's spot for more checking, leave Carter where he is and reunite the 'best 4th line in hockey':

Gagne-Richards-Carter
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
Powe-Giroux-Asham
Carcillo-Betts-Lappy

who said anything about hurting feelings? you dont take out a skill player, even though he has struggled, for carcillo. Lappy should have been the one taken out. lappy played a whopping 6 minutes i believe and really didnt do much at all. Powe doesnt help that line(rather have carcillo there as he doesnt help it much either) and really hurst giroux's effectiveness

It's being discussed in the GDT. Parent/Bartulis switch has not been confirmed.

he only played six minutes because the flyers didn't take any penalties.

those guys are winning puck battles, jvr is obviously more talented but you play a guy on performance, not potential, and his performance is just not there. i am not strongly in favor of the move but i respect it.

I've got no problems with it. JVR wasn't giving us anything, and we know that Carcillo will at least bring a physical element to the team as well as maybe some offense. I like putting Bartulis in, if you're only going to play Parent :41 there's no reason not to bring Bartulis in to see what he can do.

Carcillo: don't love it. I'd rather have JVR. But who knows, maybe he'll play well and I'll eat crow.

Bart:
I like it if it's true. I don't know why Bart wasn't in earlier quite frankly. Parent has taken a step back this year.

You have to look at the strategy. They are clearly going to try to check the Hawks tonight, clog up the neutral zone and make it tougher on them in our end.

Carcillo will have an impact on the game whether he's on line 1 or 4. He hits to hurt and the Hawks' D is full of snivelling smurfs.

At one point in game 1 Keith actually let the puck go to avoid a Richards' hit. Let's pound them mercilessly. Open up the cuts on Seabrook's and Hjalmarsson's faces every shift and hope the blood gets in their eyes and costs them goals. Knock the rest of Keith's f'ing teeth out or reopen those wounds.

Time for smash-mouth, pressure-packed Flyers hockey again.

JVR will learn a valuable lesson from the pressbox about giving it on every shift.

I agree that Lappy was ineffective in game 1, and could be next on the bubble, but I have no problem taking JVR out for a game, esp. if it means that Powe takes his place as a defensive presence on that line.

As I said in the other post, having 13 guys who can play is a nice luxury to have - and it will keep guys hungry.

JVR will be great, but he's not great right now. With Carcillo you know what you're going to get where as with JVR it's what we hope we're going to get. Neither team did much in corners in Game 1, so if there will be an added emphasis on this, then go for it. I just hope he isn't overenergized to the point where he brings too much of the crazy

JvR has never played like 40 games in a season before. He is now closing in on 100. H needs a break.

Yea, he's gonna be jacked up. Let's hope all that pent up energy doesn't get misdirected.

I'm fairly certain that Lavy might have mentioned this possibility to Carcillo....

replacing JVR with Carcillo is a pure panic move. Hopefully Carcillo doesnt do something stupid that will change the series.

+/- tells the story here

JVR, Lappy, & Betts are all at -3 for the playoffs while Carcillo is at +3
Parent sits at -2, lowest of the D men, Oscars not much better at -1

I would rather Asham be scratched than JVR. Hopefully Carcillo can do well

I hope Asham and Carcillo don't go on the same line.

Gagne-Richards-Carcillo
Hartnell-Briere-Leino
Asham-Giroux-Carter

Maybe?

Honestly it took this long for Parent to get scratched and Barts get the call?? Lavy must not like Barts.

Carcillo on the first line with Richards Carter. Should make the 1st line much more productive than they were in game 1.

Nobody could be more of a wasted roster spot than Parent.
