He's essentially been saying this since 2004.

I'll believe he is coming over when I see his name on the training camp list and he skates out in a Habs jersey for the first practice.

So, what changes? Next summer = next year.

Let's be careful about "stop drafting russians" syndrom....For every Habs russians players, there are Grachev and Anisimov and a few others. It's not about stopping to draft russians....it's about getting the right ones. For example, if Avtsin never comes in NA, then you have a point in wanting to stop drafting russians for ever. Why? 'Cause the guy while not being a 1st rounder prospects, was at the combine, at the draft in Montreal and at our first development camp. Something that you will rarely see from guys not that much interested. So to me, they did their homework for Avtsin. Not sure they did it for the rest.

Yes out of every other nation, Russian are the most risky one. But I don't believe it should refrain you from totally stopping to draft them.

As far as Emelin is concerned, I have no confidence in him whatsoever. I also think that his "I'll think of the NHL next year" is just there to convince his team for a bigger and longer contract after this year.

Emelin threads are now as predictable as Vinny threads.

So here: Emelin!

Why don't you watch him instead of relying on opinions of others. He had a solid WC against NHL and NHL caliber players. He was on the ice in critical situations, played a rugged game and often made a nice first pass.

He certainly outplayed a lot of Canadian and US defensemen who were chose as the best available from an NHL talent pool.

Given all of that, why do you arbitrarily say that he would be lucky to make the team?

**** that guy. Everyone talks of him like he's the **** but he's probably bad anyway.

His "physicality" doesn't mean **** until he plays in the NHL with real men, not Russian women.

If Emelin hasn't come over by now, he never will. Now many Russians entering their mid 20s decide to come over compared to those of similar age who go back home? Habs are just being used as leverage... again and again and again.

I would like to watch him if he wasn't so **** scared to play in the NHL, not interested anymore.

Will we get any picks back if this guy refuses to sign a contract? It would be nice if he wasn't a total waste.

Too bad you're wrong and Avtsin is already in Canada and Trunev has said many times he wants to be in the NHL.

All it would cost is a bit of time to come to your own conclusions on his abilities. The games were on TSN.

Btw, I doubt that he asked the Habs to draft him so why take it out on the player. Hockey is a business. He evaluates his options and makes the decision that he feels will be the best for his situation. Personal attacks on the player's decision are childish.

Watching Emelin, I doubt that fear has anything to do with it. For those who commented on the KHL vs the NHL with regard to toughness might also want to reconsider those comments. There are plenty of tough players in the KHL.

when has trunev ever said that he really wants to play in the NHL? all i've ever gotten from him is a very ' we'll see' attitude.
