Hell it`s gotta be mike Ribiero.

I`d agree with you, the Habs franchise player is Theodore.

If anything it has to be Saku or Theo, we live and die by these 2. Kovalev is a joke, we did so much without him.

On the ice and in the locker room Koivu.
Off the ice (media) Theodore. Theodore sells a lot.

Saku & Theo are the franchise player. You can't build your team around Kovalev..
But we really really need Kovalev to resign. He is far from being a joke, and it's a lethal injection of talent. We need talent.

We don't have one. Only when we start to go deep into the playoffs and do some serious damage will I start to think about franchise players, guys we simply cannot lose or we would risk losing the identity of our team (think Sakic, Iginla, Stevens, Yzerman, Modano, Lemieux). Having said that, I would be extremely reluctant to trade Theo.

I didn't meen this year... I think next year or in 2 years he will be getting us some achievements that will help our franchise grow if he plays like he did in the playoffs. Saku was to me the franchise player this year.

If you have any doubt that Saku isn't the Canadiens' franchise player, just remember the way he played against Boston, and think what he could had give us if he did not have a such ridiculous number of injuries before.

As of now, Saku and Theo, in the future, it could be Kostitsyn!

Montreal's one and only franchise player is Jose Theodore, as far as I'm concerned.

Silly question.

Patrice Brisebois, hes the longest standing member of the team.

(Koivu, Theodore, who says you cant have two franchise players?)

I don't think we have one. Maybe there are a dozen or so "franchise" players in the league today. I mean, if the definition is the player that the franchise totally relies upon for just about everything. Koivu is our inspirational leader and best offensive player, Theodore probably wins more games for us singlehandedly than any other player on the team does, but I don't really think either is yet recognised as a bona fide "franchise player". (Theodore could have been, after his MVP year, but he has regressed a bit in terms of his consistency).
