Now that the offseason is starting to get into swing, I figured we could use a single thread to track the Rangers' cap situation. I will keep this updated. Let me know if there's anything you think needs to be added.
The Salary Cap for next season is 59.4 mil.

Salary is 900k and 850k in performance bonuses. The bonuses are included in the cap hits.

CapGeek updated today to report 900K base salary (2-way) plus 850K in bonuses. We don't know what he has to do to earn those bonuses - could be just for making the roster, could be for scoring 80 goals (likely somewhere in the middle
).
The bonuses can roll over to next year if we run out of cap room this year.

40 Goals and play 41 games? I'm 100% on board!

Isn't it a little presumptuous to list MZA as on the roster? He's signed...but he hasn't made the team yet...

Considering the lack of signed NHL forwards we currently have, I think he has to be listed until we have a better idea of how the team will look.

Perhaps, but I think the odds of him being sent down before the season starts is pretty low. We won't know until camp whether he makes it or not, so I figured it made more sense to have him on the roster during the offseason.

That wouldn't really help much unless we're talking career ending injury (no, I'm not wishing that on either of them). Once they come back, we'd have to get back under the cap, so we'd be pretty limited in who we could sign with that money.
The best thing by far would be if they both retired, but that's not happening given their ages and the amount of money left on their contracts.

Are you saying you're more upset about the captain's contract than Wade Redden's? Seriously?

I could be wrong, but I believe the cap is actually a hair under $59.4MM.

Correct. His hit counts until he's demoted in October.

MZA has a two way contract. He didn't play in the NHL last season. His contract doesn't count against the summer cap.

Good, after getting rid of Voros, Brashear, and Redden, they will have PLENTY of cap space to sign Kovalchuk, and re-sign Staal and Girardi.
Stop wasting time on fringe players, Sather, sign the only player that matters.

Yah? You think Kovalchuk will still be a UFA the first week of October?

When is that going to occur? October.

This isn't tracking the summer cap, it's the in season cap. Too much to track the summer cap with some players being prorated based on number of games play last year.

There is plenty of cap space to sign Kovalchuk.
